i'm planning on building one, and i know several others have homebrew too. right now i'm using hovabator because it was affordable (bought the still air models and installed computer fans in them). i'm just looking for the perfect cabinet first. contemplating driving the truck in town tuesday when i go, even tho it sucks the gas down fast...

hubby's suggested several things for me, talking out the build before i go get parts, so if you want to build or upgrade, i can pass on some suggestions for extending lightbulb life & such... he's even gonna draw me a diagram to put up if anyone asks... he's the electronics guy, i'm the one with power tools rofl.

Pass that info over here!!!! I am going to build another one that has easier access to the trays and make them removable, but my light are not lasting very long so that would be great info.

Sorry I haven't posted sooner, normally nothing will keep me from BYC, but I was attending to a wound. Long story short I got snakebit. Fortunately no venom was injected praise God. I didn't have to go to hospital and this actually my second time so I knew what to do. It happened as I was coming back from chickensitting my neighbors flock. It's taken me a while to catch up on all the posts.Deb you are right about packing it good enough that eggs will arrive intact. My mail carrier told me that most distribution hubs are automated and the guides are only about 3 inches tall on the conveyors. Crongratz to all on the new arrivals!

I'm also checking out the links on homemade incubators and particularly the auto egg turner. Take care and God bless. Jim
