i recommend a STC-1000 thermostat http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/281044571320?lpid=82

110v case fan x 2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/120mm-AC-11...mputer_Fan_Grills_Filters&hash=item35c382ea9f

3" machine screws and nuts

spacers for fan (extra nuts will do)

foil tape

foam insulation sheet http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbrande...ft-Foam-Insulating-Sheathing-754404/100572981

a plywood box that will fit a turner - you may not want initially but turning eggs gets old

2 8x10 plexiglass (make double plane window)

a heat source - most people use 2 x 60 watt incandescant light bulbs. i use 220v heater elements running on 110v http://www.ebay.com/itm/1pcs-Electr...131?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2334b54c43

a power cord - i buy a 99c store extension chord

a digital hygrometer/thermometer

the pics below are a small hatcher made from a wine box but you should get the idea

How much space can one of these heaters be expected to heat? Or what is the maximum size of box before you need to add a second one of these. I may replace my dehydrator with these.

I use 2 just for redundency

I have a cabinet incubator with 2 this size - if fits 4 hovabator turners so just shy of 200 eggs.

I mount them with a spacer to the front of the fans so that the heat dissapates from the metal as fast as possible.

The fans are mounted on two 3" pvc elbows and pipe that pulls the air from the top of the bator down to the bottom.

Hello everyone! I was active on this thread ages ago (like april/may 2012), but never actually got to hatch anything. :( BUT I just placed an order for 8 Khaki Campbell eggs and I'm super excited!! I'm going to be setting up my LG tonight, and my eggs will be getting shipped tomorrow!!

777 my lucky number Love the incubator info was thinking about getting myself one of those controllers for temp on my leahy
any one have a good source for egg turners ?

I got my new digital themostat!!!!
wee.gif
Now I just have to work out how to rewire my box since it works indirectly and not in a simple circuit like the water heater thermostat. Yeah!

Does it look like this?

I initially found it less confusing to hook mine up via an outlet attached to the thermostat. It allowed me to also get my heating just right.

to do it without the outlet, pigtail the white wires. The red wire and the white wire go to the heat source.

except we're using 110 here not 220... wonder if the wiring is the same both ways?
That type of thermostat comes in several volts and you have to be careful to order the right one. I have the cooling wired up on mine. Better safe than sorry. I will have a little computer fan wired up to exhaust air if it gets too hot. The wiring would be the same I think.... just everything 110.

You do TINY flat head screwdrivers....... That is an itty bitty screw..... maybe just bitty..... I have seen smaller ones.
