I implore people to look up and learn about vaccines and make decisions.

Making decision based on my or other opinions on this website is foolish.

You need to understand the disease and the mechanism of the vaccines to make an educated decision.

I agree everyone should educate themselves on it and decide whats best for them. Not vaccinating is best for me.

Yes
I do not order in chicks. I mostly hatch my own eggs. or eggs I get in.
I raise the young ones separately for about 4 months.
some breeds also seem to be more resistant

I spent all evening last night reading.

I decided to order my chicks from McMurray vaxxed for Marek's but not Cocci. I will vax my incubator chicks for Marek's upon hatching and will give them all medicated feed. They are being brooded in my basement, away from any other chickens, so they will effectively be quarantined for 5-6 weeks.

I spent all evening last night reading.

I decided to order my chicks from McMurray vaxxed for Marek's but not Cocci. I will vax my incubator chicks for Marek's upon hatching and will give them all medicated feed. They are being brooded in my basement, away from any other chickens, so they will effectively be quarantined for 5-6 weeks.

Its great that you did some research.before deciding

I am pro vaccination - I vaccinate my kids, pigs and chickens against the most common or deadly diseases.

Cocci vaccination is new-ish for the back yarder. I have decided to go with symptomatic treatment as there are treatment regimines available that are effective

I would probably get it if I bought hatchery chicks but to use it at home you need to mass incubate where I hatch every 4 days

Would that have to be done at the vet office exclusively? I've checked around feed stores and they don't know what to give me for that accept the antibiotics. I want to prevent the spread of it, not so much just cover it up or give them more internal damage as you were saying. Any suggestions would be greatly suggested. I know their is a lot of controversy on giving the chickens anything from the view of organic famers, but I would like to prevent the disease as much as possible and effectively. I do the cleaning of the feeders regularly and what I feel is the appropriate way, but you know sometimes they get a sip of some bad water somewhere or something hanging around the yard and the next thing you know they looking like they gonna croak over. Next thing you know you have to segregate the flock and slow down the eggs from reaching the refrigerator due to antibiotics when those natural remedies no longer work.
