Incubators Anonymous

I rinse eggs and hatch them all the time hatch just fine. I hatch dirty eggs they hatch just fine. I hatch refrigerators eggs they hatch. They are heartier than you think.

So how does everyone handle their shipped eggs as far as candleing and weighing them? I've been taking them out one by one and doing it (without turning them upside down or anything) but just wanted to make sure that wasn't going to hurt them.

hey guys quick question i have the brinsea mini that has ducks/turkey/chicken eggs in it. It has been getting much warmer here so its been getting a little warmer in the house. Currently the incubator is 102 degrees during the day time and around 100 at night. Should i be concerned? if i lower the temp then at night it will get too cold i think

is it a still air? I would be worried about a 102 more than 98. Higher temps will kill them and lower temps will only slow them down.

honestly I handle shipped eggs as little as possible. I candle while they're still in the turner, just with a small flashlight looking at the air cells. I don't weigh anymore but if I did, I'd say set some control eggs from a local source and weigh them. if they're on schedule so are the shipped ones...

I generally don't handle my shipped eggs-- very delicate those shipped eggs. Can you hold the light to the big end without moving the egg?? Looking for the dev of the air cell is the most important factor. I just pray for the chick to develop . . . . .

Basically the less handling and possibly jarring of the egg the better-- but you already know that.

I used an Lg still air, I now have one with a fan. In really hoping it helps. I can't seem to get the humidity over 40%, is that ok for now or should I throw in a sponge or two?
