Incubators Anonymous

Honestly, I would also take out the fan. But that's just my opinion because I've never used one. It could be doing more harm than good if you're not getting any development.

Your set up looks good though!

I'm also surprised your humidity is so low with that much water. Possibly from the fan/openning.
I don't even use water until lockdown and mine stays steady at 50% up until then.
I disagree on the fan... it keeps the temps more even and circulates fresh air around the eggs. they need to breathe! still air can also become stagnant air IMO.

Just stopping n to say we still have not shut down our incubator(sportsman 1502) for now a year, we did shut down the hatcher for cleaning. It will be off for a whole week.
how do you handle keeping the fans clear of fluff, I just had one fan fail so i have to take it apart and see what's up... funny thing though I got 7 of 8 eggs hatched fine on
one fan only... When i look inside i see they are all fluffed up, i'm hoping that is the problem..

Oh oops had the both covered

Hi

You don't give a lot to work with so here are some initial questions.

  • How are you measuring temps?
  • How sure are you that your thermometer is accurate?
  • How are your eggs stored prior to incubating?
  • When are you checking the eggs for viability?

Typically you can get eggs to start veining with temps anywhere from 95-102 - you just cant get them to 21 days without more accurate temps.

Also a general rule is failure to incubate (with temps in range) is the fault of the eggs if the failure is days 1-14 and the bator-or in the last 7 days.

I question your eggs.
