Thanks!!! That works!! When you do up it to the 55-65% do you add water to the wells or do you put a sponge or add a small bowl with water?as I've said all along, I dry incubate (adding NO water for the first 18-19 days) and then up it to 55-65% for lockdown. I have 4 hovabators with fans and 3 auto turners (old style thermostats). the 4th one I use as a dedicated hatcher so I can set eggs about every 5 days or so. if I start getting enough eggs to set at once, I may turn a second one into dual purpose incubator/hatcher as needed, but for now it's only a hatcher when I have chicks hatching at the same time that I need to keep separate (similar looking breeds, different breeders with the same breed, etc)

I use a rectangular disposable plastic dish from krogers (2 cups?) about 3x5" or so, and just fill it with hot water. I also lay paper towels on the floor of the incubator so if needed I can squirt a bit of water on the paper to up the humidity fast (if I have to open it for some reason). I also hatch in egg crates to keep the hatched chicks from rolling their buddies around.
What kind of egg crates? Not paper ones right? Plastic or styrofoam? Thanks for all your help!!I use a rectangular disposable plastic dish from krogers (2 cups?) about 3x5" or so, and just fill it with hot water. we are here to help addictsThere are 784 pages in this thread and y'all are encouraging people to keep incubating.
You might as well hold the AA meetings at a bar.
I am going to be getting back into birds and fear I will suffer the same horrible fate as y'all
and worry that I will end up with hundreds of button quail.....

heaven forbid we try and slow them down

I have used paper egg cartons and plastic. I am sticking with the plastic as I can clean them and reuse them.
Last I remember she used OREO Cookie trays. I love my oreos but I could not eat enough to use them to hatch with LOL.
