I spent all evening last night reading.

I decided to order my chicks from McMurray vaxxed for Marek's but not Cocci.  I will vax my incubator chicks for Marek's upon hatching and will give them all medicated feed.  They are being brooded in my basement, away from any other chickens, so they will effectively be quarantined for 5-6 weeks.

The vets I have talked to say medicated feed isnt worth it for chicks in a brooder. If it is there the small space it is too strong for the medicated feed to work. It is more complicated then that but it boils down to medicated being for chicks with mothers not brooders. I pre treat at 4 and 6 weeks qith corid and the s one I can never spell.
Would that have to be done at the vet office exclusively? I've checked around feed stores and they don't know what to give me for that accept the antibiotics. I want to prevent the spread of it, not so much just cover it up or give them more internal damage as you were saying. Any suggestions would be greatly suggested. I know their is a lot of controversy on giving the chickens anything from the view of organic famers, but I would like to prevent the disease as much as possible and effectively. I do the cleaning of the feeders regularly and what I feel is the appropriate way, but you know sometimes they get a sip of some bad water somewhere or something hanging around the yard and the next thing you know they looking like they gonna croak over. Next thing you know you have to segregate the flock and slow down the eggs from reaching the refrigerator due to antibiotics when those natural remedies no longer work.

Sams downtown has meraks vacc. We dont have a lot of the other stuff in our area bssides ib.

I'm down to 5 eggs left out of 32. :( none of the ones I got locally were fertile. We go into lockdown Tuesday night. :)

well, this last batch is doing well. I set 33 sfh eggs from a friend 2+ hours away. tossed only 1 clear so far. have 4 silver laced bantam cochins going to lockdown today with 1 mille fleur bantam cochin and 1 silver grey dorking (free range, possible mutt).

plus I'm getting 25+ chicks from mcmurray tomorrow (I hope, wed will be a problem since I just found out I'm going out of town!)

day 18 but not locking down.

I am keeping incubator closed.

My eggs should be hatching late Thursday, early Friday. I may have just ordered 20 more eggs... 8 mixed silkies and 12 barnyard mixes and wyandottes in a surprise box. Was going to order some olive riggers as well but she was asking $20 just for shipping which seems nuts to me. They should be shipping Wednesday. I may order some more, but I dunno yet. Off to stalk the swap. :)
