I didn't think of that. I just worried about them moving around and getting tangled.honestly I think the bags would be more like hatching out under momma... they probably would fluff faster too with something rubbing on the damp fuzz.

Ok hatching experts-my gooey chick problem persists. What has me thrown is that it's only the shipped eggs. I've had six of my own make lockdown and they have all hatched quickly, unassisted, and fluffed out beautifully. I've had four eggs from shipped chicks hatch (8 made lockdown and never hatched, another two I'm still waiting on day 22) two with lots of assistance, and all are gooey and never fluff much. I'm sure they will need baths and re-drying before I gift them to my broody. What's up?
Generally dry incubated in the beginning then humidity up to lower 30s for excessive air cell growth. Eggs were cold nearly 36 hr at between day 7-10 during ice storm. LD on day 19-20 (to account for lost growth during ice storm) at 65-70%.
I have Pipping!! two sbel for DMRippy have pipped. I hear some peeping. I am hard of hearing so I may miss some of the peeping going on. I have been clucking at them like mama would (I hope). Dropped in a warm wet sponge quickly to bring up the humidity to 60. Been having problems getting it up with just water.
I started weighing each group after having the air cells look so big on my first batch. They are loosing appropriately. That's why I am at a loss. I thought gooey chicks was too high humidity which would cause small air cells. These are certainly not small. I was afraid of shrink wrapping because they seemed so large. But this is my first time hatching shipped eggs.were you weighing the eggs? shipped eggs tend to have air cell damage and LOOK larger than they really are.
otherwise, if your homegrown eggs were losing water properly, so were the shipped ones.
