Incubators Anonymous

Arggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Why?!!? why me. I ordered 42 eggs. Figured I would get a few brokens since they were being mailed from 4 different places and I would be good for my bator. I have 49 eggs to fit into the egg turner that holds only 42. I also figured I was not going to win the one auction. Now what do I do with the extra 7 eggs?

Stack em!! Lol
It is only 7 eggs I could stack 7 of the duck eggs. LOL It has been 5 years since I last hatched so I am a bit rusty..... Yes, I am an addict. I know this, because Dh asked me if I wanted hatching eggs or a new truck and I picked the eggs. lol

Well. I got mine off Ebay...3 different auctions! Let them set in my basement for a full week before incubating. Lots are developing, can't say how many will hatch though. Only a week in so far.
I has a question.......

How many days can mailed eggs sit out at room temp and still be incubated. I just got 6 Blue Slate turkey eggs in the mail today. I have another 36 eggs due in two days. Can I let them sit at room temp that long or should I put them in the bator now and hope for the best?

I have a question for whoever cares to share. I'm about to set my second batch, with my first one very u successful. I have a still air hover bator which has worked in the past I think I just messed up the humidity. Thoughts on using an egg turner. The guy I bought my eggs from said I shouldn't ever hatch without it. I have read a lot of people have good success without it. Just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks.

I use the egg turner, sure does take the worry away if I am not home to turn them and I'm not opening the bator three times a day etc... I am using a borrowed incubator to hatch out more turkeys and it didn't have a turner, I am stressing over having to touch those eggs so much!

studies show that the more often you turn your eggs, the better the hatch.

a turner makes it so much more practical.
