Incubators Anonymous

ahhh one of the advantages of having no DH :) !! the only thing is then you have to do everything by yourself... SO this last 2 weeks i got sick and
i realized that i just couldn't look after all the chicks and be sick as well so I had to get back on the wagon and shut down my incubator ....

my daughter is moving to Atlanta so... that's it!! then just me and the chickens... and my doggies of course... I am doing a huge re-boot of my life
right now, cleaning house and starting over from scratch on all my unfinished projects...

more chickens later though :D...

Hope you get well soon!

I wouldn't try it. Larger eggs like that don't hatch and seldom to double yolkers hatch.

I now have 48 eggs in the bator. Found a cracked one today. I think it may have not been seated fully in the turner. Was not oozing or dripping, but I candled it and it was a clear duck egg after a week in the bator. No veining so most likely not fertile.

Next Friday I will candle all of the turkey eggs to see what I have. That will be day 14 for all of the eggs. Should also be able to tell which eggs to toss by then.

see, my method for chicken math is that roosters don't count. broodies don't count. chicks under broodies don't count. actually chicks don't count. the only ones that count are the birds in the breeding pens. oh. but did I mention broodies don't count? oh and the free range girls don't count either, since I can't ever find their eggs...

so... by my estimate, I have... 12 birds. or so.

that's not counting the 22 roosters, 14 free range girls, 8 broodies and numerous youngsters who aren't laying yet. I'm sure I didn't miss anyone else.

Pinkchick is in Washington State. She might be able to help you in the fall. She lost most of her flock to a Mt Lion and is rebuilding.
OMG!! Pink had such nice birds!!
