I'll have to read into it a little more, I don't think it will happen this year because I just don't have the space to keep many different groups of chicks. I plan on adding a couple more breeding pen/coops and putting a coop area in my pole barn. (reserved a space 15' x 7' just for this!)

Just a suggestion-- I made a cooler bator for just a little money. Used a cooler ai already had and many other supplies I already had really brought down the price. OTherwise I use an LG and with a little care, it works well enough for me.

That's what I would end up doing if I made one, a cooler bator. Though keeping my brinsea packed to the max (literally, I have two eggs that are sitting on top of the others that I made a little sling type thing for) is about all I can handle at the moment.

Day 14 with ducks and turkey eggs. Should I be hearing a tap tap tap coming from one of the eggs in the bator? Yes, I have seen movement when I candled them but not enough to explain the tapping I suddenly hear at random......

I was talking about the CCL's..... I have not started using them yet. They are in quarantine still.

Oh :) oops... well you know i mostly think marans

My CCLs are laying and have been for a couple of months
now. Compared to the leghorns, orpingtons and marans i have been a bit disappointed in the number of eggs
but they are still getting up to speed. Also the eggs are pretty small. the orpingtons have surprised me wiht the number
of eggs they produce, almost one per day..
