Incubators Anonymous

Nope never tried it, seen it was kerosene and give it a once over when I got home. Found out it was over a 100 years old and the label is still intact and excellent so I was scared to even do anything with it. I've seen many im CL for sale for well over $250. I think of I were in your situation I'd try and build my own as I've built 4 now using junk I've hoarded over the years with success. Good luck finding one, check Craigslist!
I thought about making one too...seems easy enough and I'm pretty handy.
I have a brother in law who is an antique auctioneer and dealer maybe he can help. I have yet to run into anyone who has tried one. I know you can buy them new.

Anyway, thanks again.

Way to go!

What kind of turkey's? Please share your incubation stats: temp, humidity, turning, when did you lockdown, did you lower the temp towards the hatch, etc. etc. etc...Inquiring minds want to know!

I have that bator too and hatched two whole midget white turkeys last Sunday. Want to see if I can change what I did and do better next time. Thanks! And congrats!

Midget Whites

Temp between 99.5 and 100

No clue on humidity, I still haven't gotten around to getting a hygrometer. I just keep water in the wells.

The turning is automatic. I have a cradle for my Brinsea.

Lockdown on 25th day. I made sure the wells were full, put in 2 sponges, and removed the cradle.

I never lower the temp during hatch. But I keep hearing(reading) about that practice.

Shipped eggs are always a gamble. I have gotten zero hatch on chicken eggs, other times they hatch well.

I just did a google search for kerosene incubator and this is the first one that popped up...

personally I would add a small 12v computer fan to make it circulated air and adjust the thermostat to 99.5 (for this one shown).
yeah that looks cool...I bet I can build that. The lamp is most likely heating, what looks like copper coils. Keeping a small computer fan running wouldn't be a big deal. I would also put in a manual turner that operates from the outside, and a way to add water without opening the door.

Keeping an even temp would be a challenge, but I like a challenge.

My roosters are too funny!
My EE roo says "cock a doodle dooooowhoooo" That last whoo sounds sooo hard on him like he's straining!
My Frizzled sizzle says "cock a do" That's it!!!! No doodle or doooo at the end.
So 1 sounds like he's putting forth soooo much effort, & the other is just too lazy to finish!! LMBO!!!
