Quote: the copper pipe is water filled (a couple vertically oriented loops would work). as it heats it creates convection that circulates the warm water. you could use a simple thermostat that activates a valve, cutting off the water circulation when the goal temp is reached.

Oh my gosh, my Brinsea is wall to wall turkeys this morning. I think most of the eggs must have hatched.

Here's my dilemma: should I open the lid to get all those turkeys out and risk shrink wrapping someone? It's so thick with turkeys in there, I can't tell if anyone else is hatching.

I would get a bottle (squirt or ketchup style) with HOT water in it, and some paper towel ready... open it quickly, removing all the chicks you can as fast as you can (a bucket with feed in the bottom works well.) then put the paper towel in along one side, wet it and shut it up again. hopefully that should take less than 30 seconds and anyone left should be good to go. if the paper is too wet, you can always vent out a bit of excess humidity by open-close about that fast.

I was hoping to get an umbrella cockatoo this week, but that didn't pan out, so I am just gonna get a new incubator instead.

Gonna use my hova-bator as a hatch box, and just keep my incubator for "cooking".

I'll wait until later this afternoon and then do it that way. Surely by then all will have hatched that are going to.

When I do this, I usually try to have another person, extra hands, to help. Makes it quicker getting them out, & I don't worry so much that some may jump out in the process. Lol

I just saw a wet one pop his head up, so I guess at least one more was hatching. Glad I didn't open the top yet.

I'm so excited for you! All those turkeys!

I'm so nervous! I have 11 more days to go for the dozen chicken eggs in my incubator right now. I'm trying not to candle as I think that's part of what caused problems last go 'round. I am tracking development via weight loss. I so can't wait to see if I get any fluffy butts this time! (This is my third attempt at hatching in the Little Giant.)
