Incubators Anonymous

I haven't used any. I just thought that when washing eggs you should put a bit of bleach to help kill the bacteria and Lysol kills bacteria, sooo....

your choice, but knowing that the egg shells soak up things, I like to be careful with what I use. I think of it this way, if there was a baby growing in there, knowing an egg will soak up whatever you use, would I use lysol or bleach? No as it would kill the featus if gotten into the shell. But like I said, just my opinion. You can use whatever you'd like

Alright what is the reason to wash the egg's in bleach ,,, asking because I never was or clean any of my egg's before putting them in the incubator ....

I wouldn't wash any eggs, personally. if it's lightly dirty i'll brush off the dry loose bits, but otherwise I leave it alone. they hatch just fine.

I was reading a post back a few pages and when I Quoted the post asking the person it did not attach the other post but yes I never wash of even wipe my egg's and if they are dirty that egg simply wont get picked for the incubator but this other post the person indicated washing their egg's with bleach so I was wondering why would thy even think of something like that .........

I thank you for the response .........

I don't clean unless they are really bad , in which case I probably wouldn't set them.anyhow

I have sold eggs on Ebay during times when it has rained for a week . If they we're muddy even a little I have told the buyer it is muddy here do you want me to clean them.. but if they were so bad they need an all over wash they either went in the fridge or my incubator...I have set horrible dirty duck eggs and clean chicken eggs seems really to make no difference in the hatch..I also. Clean my incubator and hatcher on a regular basis really well I think if you have a stro incubator dirt bacteria could be an issue. But if it is a hard surface bacteria can eaisly be killed and cleaned.. I had a suprise today 2 of my bantams started laying no idea who so might need to incubate to figure it out
