Guess its time to give in and unplug the bator today.

I have 3 VERY beautiful Sheri Minkner Sizzle babies in my brooder. Hatched 4, but 1 died. 1 still looks a bit rough and keeps getting MASSIVE pasty butt, so a little extra TLC, & hopefully he/she will continue to flourish! Can't wait to see how adorable they stay as they continue to grow and change!!
Congratulations! That's great news! I had one that had chronic pasty butt, but It grew out of it after about 10 days. Good luck!

Yep unplugged mine yesterday. Last hatch netted me 6 quail and one chick. Ran dry while I was at work and it made the last 3 eggs hatch difficult. The chick chick is a bit splayed (I've hobbled it) and weak but is gaining ground. The 6 surviving quail (there were 9 but they had Cerebral Palsy from the difficult hatch and died) hatched 3 days before the chick. So I have put them together since I didn't have any other day old chicks to put it with. They are getting on fine for the moment. When the chick gets fully coordinated if it gets rough I will have to separate them but for now the quail seem to be a positive stimulation for it.

It has the most interesting color of fluff. None of my chicks so far have hatched out this color. Up to now they have been silver chipmunks or black or blue. This one is a medium rusty brown with splashes of yellow fluff mostly around the face, throat and belly. No chipmunk stripes. I hope it survives to put out feathers cause I really want to see what this turns into.

Well I am going to tinker with mine. I want to try an idea for a humidifier made from an aquarium aerator stone and a jar of water. Bubble air through the water. I also want to put casters on the bottom (it is a cabinet bator) for easy movement. I am going to replace one of the "drawer" faces with plexiglass for viewing with out taking the top off. I may make a side door so that removing the top doesn't let all the heat/humidity escape when you have to open it.

I don't know whether I will hatch at the New Year or Easter next. It will be one or the other. Well let's be real. If I don't hatch at NYH I may not make it to Easter.

Here are some pic of he chick. What color do you think this turns into?

Awesome!! Can I ask what your temp/humidity formula is for Seramas?? I haven't gotten it just right yet, but my Serama just hatched a couple last night and today. I had four more that were a couple days old I put under her. I could have put more under there and she wouldn't have even blinked.. okay, well, she did peck me a few times!

The temp is between 99.5 and 100F.

I don't know what the humidity is. When I lock down, I fill the wells and put some wet sponges in.
