Incubators Anonymous

I have not been having problems with this incubator just the little drop in temp when I increased the humitity but that was because my husband turned the heater down. We turned it back up and it's been fine ever since. It's staying at 99 - 100. Humidity is 60-74.

Oooo so sorry. I have one but its a combo thing. Well I have 2. They are in the picture.
What I see in the picture is 2 thermometers, not a thermostat. The thermostat when set will cycle your bulb/heat on and off as needed to keep the temp the same inside the incubator even if the room it is in gets colder or hotter. Google "wafer thermostat". You can get one to add to your incubator in the $20 range----then you can put a larger wattage bulb in it and it will cut the bulb on and off as needed. Some people get a hot water heater fthermostat from Lowes, etc because they are cheaper(less than $10)------you can You-Yube that to see how to modify it if you want to use one of those.

With out a thermostat you have to be getting a big swing in the temp in the incubator every time the room gets colder/hotter. If your temp ranges from 95 to 105 you are not going to have a good hatch---if you even have one. Good Luck

Thanks! I will definitely look into that! I haven't have a big swing like that. I did when I had my other bator. The only time I was worried about the temp was when I had to raise the humidity so high by adding water and the fact that my hubby turned the temp in the house down. Grrrr

. But other than that it's been holding steady between 99-100 on all 3 of my thermometers.

But....... I will see what I can do. Thanks.

Good, if you have a real good hatch----you will probably be OK. My wifes son built one similiar to yours---except for using a hot water thermostat---he hatched 100% on his first hatch---30 some chicks. Good Luck!!

This is what I use for a thermostat for 2 incubators... they work wonderfully and I don't even have to think about temp in my incubator once I get it set. I have extreme temps in my house, wood heat and often don't bother if it's not too cold and high temps in the summer. I buy the ones shipped from California... many come from China and take longer, obviously.

Can someone please help my untrained eyes and tell me if these eggs look fertile or not ? One of my roosters has recently "matured" and I'm not sure if the hens are letting him have his way yet. :) Thanks!
