Incubators Anonymous

I am curious to know if anyone here has used a reptile humidifier in an incubator? I am talking about the one that runs about $60 on Ebay and is external and pumps the humid air into the reptile's terrarium (or incubator in my case). I like the fact that when empty you just unscrew the bottle and fill it again and put it back on the machine. No opening the incubator. You set the controls for the humidity that you want it to maintain and it pumps the right amount in.
I have not used the one that you are talking about but yesterday I just installed the type of fogger that a person puts in a tub or dish. I got it off of Amazon for about $9. I put it in a clear tub and cut the lid in 1/3rd and put the middle part back on the small tub so the splash will hit the lid instead of going everywhere. It is connected to a Wh8040 controler which works great. I have a hose going to the tub to fill it when needed. I am thinking about getting another one for a backup.

I was talking to you the other day. I have one left over. It used to have a lovely blue glass bowl until the cat tried to drink from it and broke it. I think I remember where it is so I am going to give it a try before I spring for a $60 dollar machine.

I will take a pic of how I have my setup tomorrow. I am really liking it so far.

Hi. I haven't been on this thread since 2014 I think but the addiction is real

. I just had a great hatch! 28 hatched out out of 29 that went into lockdown. I think I deserve some fancy eggs? Shipping is I think unnecessary since there's some eggs here at the rare bird farm (cave Creek, AZ). The eggs are $3 or $4 each though. I also traded some Copper Marans roosters for two dozen leghorns but the seller said that the rooster wasn't pure he realized so he replaced with a 4 month old pure Leghorn. But it's going to be awhile before he gets eggs. How long??! I'd like a dozen or two of the fancy ones to go with the 2 dozen leghorns I should receive someday. The rare bird farm has naked necks, Polish, Russian Fayoumis, Brahmas, and much more but those are the ones I want I think, maybe half a dozen each. Any ideas on any of this? Thanks (your fellow IA)

fancy chickens can require special care some don't deal with being harassed very well. If you have a plan on how to house them then I think you will find it rewarding. A little reading about each breed can save problems in the future.

Thanks for the advice. I have a while to research. I started reading about the heat and cold tolerance of the Russian Fayoumis and it sounds good but that's as far as I got so far.

Well, I have 9 babies that have hatched and two that are completely zipped around the shell. They started to hatch this morning around 8am, All they need to do is push their way out but they are taking their time. 15 more to hatch. The two that are almost out are in the 15 count.

I have a tray slanted to that diverts the air across the fog. I have a air line in the tub and a teed outside. One hose goes in the gallon jug while the other one is used to siphon the water out to get it flowing in the tub. Works better than I expected to get water in there. The bottom line is 1 inch above the top of the fogger the top line is to stop for best fog output. I fill it every evening from almost the bottom line. I have not filled it this morning as you can see it has not used that much water with 66% humidity. I tried 70% but things inside was dripping a tad.
