Living the other side of the pond means it's safe. But it's an R-Com 20 pro, which I understand should not be turned off for too long (OK, so I am making that up), and I'm sure that I have the odd 20 eggs which NEED to be hatched (OK, making that up, too).......also if I put the incubator in a room that hubby never goes into, it'll be cheep cheep before he spots it.

I'm seriously hooked.

just won more Marans eggs, and bought French white Scovy eggs set to come this week as well. That's 2 bators filled back up, with 2 more to go.

Hello all, I started keeping hens this year and I love it, I want start incubating eggs. I'm looking for addicts advise, thinking of an incubator that will take about 20 eggs. The prices vary alot, is there a big difference between a rcom for about €300 and one that costs about €70 except the fact you have to turn the eggs yourself. Any other advice would be a great help. Thanks.

I have 24 eggs coming hopefully by Wednesday. Can't wait until they get here. Setting up the incubator today to regulate the temp and get the ball rolling. Hopefully they hatch well. I am so doomed I sold 4 birds now hatching 24 it seems like a totally fair trade right.

Had to take my mom to Lowe's to return something and picked up the thermostat and an extra roll of duct tape. Also a package of styrofoam panel insulation. I have no idea why I am doing this, I am already over the legal limit for chickens and have plans to order chicks in the spring (other breeds I want). I have a friend with a roo who will give me some fertile eggs whenever I am ready for them. This forum, and particularly this thread, is dangerous!

ok not sure what happenned... somehow i gut unsubscribed to the thread! and here I thought you all were reforming.

it's official! i have some wheaten marans on the way, found some dorking eggs on auction i'm waiting to win

and some EE's from an old auction that ended but she's got some available so is going to send.

I'll also add in a few of my own mini-mutt eggs to compare home vs shipped and we'll see.

cross fingers, I haven't incubated in over 15 years! but I think i've got it down. 'bators have been running for 3 days now, seem stable but none of the thermometers read the same, so go figure... i did calibrate the ones that came with the 'bators and they're pretty close to accurate, the digital ones i bought show low...

The lady that has been getting eggs didn't need any this week, hubby said what are you going to do with all the eggs? I said "incubate them" he said "not yet!". He was the one that wanted me to have 100 laying birds and maybe 300 down the road. I only have 81 now! (not layers just birds, chicks and roos) and only 2 dozen on order
