In theory yes. Do you have a thermostat to tell you what the temp is on the top of the eggs? You kinda need to know the humidity too. Most incubators have a lid and keep it closed. that bulb might be too much for that small of an area. We also like to look at our eggs, temps and humidity without opening the incubator.

I have seem people use heating pads to hatch eggs. they just put a blanket over the top and turn them several times a day.

Agreed. It might work okay. But do your research, get onto some of the homemade incubator threads. Here's one: https://www.backyardchickens.com/chicken-coop-incubator.html

I did read a thread about someone hatching eggs under a table lamp in a cardboard box.

well its new and improved can you give me the link to the one about cardboard box

first and foremost, as others have said in this and other threads i've read, you NEED a thermometer at the very least, and a hygrometer too preferably... you can buy a combo one (digital) on ebay for under $10

if your temps are +/- 5 degrees the chances of hatching are slim. the chances of hatching without adequate humidity at the end are even slimmer.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290548829953?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 is the one i got (4 of them). 7.25 each with free shipping... came from NY state if i remember.

they're a bit bigger than i was picturing in my head, but easy to read. off axis is a bit trickier, but i didn't have room in the incubator that wasn't filled with eggs LOL so it's off to the side. the one in the hatcher is dead center and simple to see. has time and date, and min/max also, so you can check that it's been stable.

At what age can you sex them?
Bought my Acurite hygrometer/thermoter at TSC on clearance for $2.95. Warning: DO NOT let the adhesive on the back of the hygrometer/thermometer get on your eggs. It will pull the outside of the egg off.

I got an incubater:lol: well I found one gonna buy it asap

if you're buying online, short of a used one on ebay, the best deal i found was from LLL Reptile supply.

for the Hovabator that is.
