Are your Silver Sussex laying good enough yet, so I can get some eggs from ya?

I think shipping was our main problemo. Since they took an extra 1-2 days to get to me...

Those Silver Sussex get prettier every day! Even the roos have fabulous cushion! I have all three pullets laying now, and I have confirmed that they are fertile! The very first two eggs they laid are in the Hatcher! Woot! This time I am going to get a bunch of chicks hatched for myself before I start selling them. I sold a lot of my Lav. Orp eggs, and I only have one pullet growing out:rolleyes:

Just had to give DS14 a lesson in how to read the thermometer. He was hollering that it was 97 and it was only 92. So I tweaked upwards a smidge and we are back to waiting.

This phase tries your patience. But it is worth it. WHen you hatch eggs from your own home-made incubator, it is an extraordinary feeling. THe tweeking before first hatch is a trial; then after the first hatch you will alter things again.

Things are moving well on the breeding pens. Hope to move everyone next week and pick up a couple of roos too

Then I can move the 6 week old birds out and soon after the 4 week olds.

Going to try not to hatch for me till after the holidays, but I think I am going to advertise hatching eggs and chick by order

Happy Hatching!!!
