Incubators Anonymous

Ok, I just took the last few unhatched eggs out of the Bator and put them in the Hatcher just in case they decide to hatch. Took out two more chicks as well:) So I set it up again with a full turner! Here we go again!

At the risk of sounding completely ignorant- What do you use for a hatcher?

Ya see, I'm old school. My grand-daddy taught me one way, and I'm learning all these other ways people hatch.

I'm gonna share some Pocs from today and yesterday.

This one I took tonight, it has a ghost drilling rig in the picture with the real one

I use a cabinet incubator with no turners for a Hatcher. I have another one with turners that I incubate in, as well as several styrofoam bators and a reptipro. I am a hatchamaniac, and I love it!

Ok I am new to this whole chick thing, when and how do you do a timer for the chicks lights? I have nearly 6 week olds and I want to break them of the heat lamp BEFORE I toss them out side in this cooler weather. I do have a florescent light with a timer to get them used to day time light. But when do you give them heat and take it away completely.

oh i don't have the heat on a timer, just the light (cfl bulb). the heat is a ceramic heat emitter sold for reptiles. i have a 40w, 60w, and 100w emitters, they screw in like light bulbs, and just produce heat only. that way i can wean the babies onto a normal day/night cycle. but i like to leave light the first week or so since they seem to need to eat/drink more often.

but since i had 2 hatches, a week apart, the light's still on... youngest guys hatched today. oldest a week ago yesterday. sold 9 chicks from both hatches today. the guy's 2 kids were beside themselves, couldn't wait to get them home.

for me, i'm thinking it'll buy a couple bags of feed.
hubby's smiling because those 9 chicks just paid for 2 months of feed.

(gotta love free range birds... they practically feed themselves. oh. wait. they do!

I have caught many wired things on film. I have a ghost dragon as well.

Me and my husband are into those shows on TV. Ghost hunters, Paranormal Investigators... I got a smiley face orb once in a pic of my daughter on her very first pony. That was cool. (It's literally a smiley face in an orb.)

Some of that stuff blows me away! (And then some of it is totally bogus!)

Ok, you just gave me a brilliant idea. I have a little giant styro. What if I got another one, got the temp and humidity right, and then transferred my "lockdown" eggs into that one. Then I can fit more eggs into the other one. I can't believe I didn't think of that before.

My grandpa has a 300 egg incubator but that's a little overkill. (Plus if I bring that thing home... it's all over for me.) More space equals more eggs.

Very true, some of is fake. You can tell. Every since I was little when our housE burned My Sis and I both are able to tell when a spirit is around. We were told cuz we were so young and in the house when it caught a fire. Trust me I would rather not know.
