Hubby has forbid people coming to the farm to pick up egg, chicks or chickens.... someone local had some expensive geese stolen because of people from a previous Craigslist ad. My son lives at the farm but he is still concerned that could happen. So I can't advertise with signs. There are a couple of stores close that I will have to use for my chicken sales.
Apparently, you may have seen this, Nashville banned chickens. The Metro website does not reflect that. Anyway, they are trying to pass a bill to allow chickens for a permit fee. So that may cut into my potential sales.
My hatching job is going good. Last Monday about 1/2 were developing and couple were questionable so we will see on Monday if they are growing.
I have made some FABULOUS brooder/growout pens. They are even modular
They are about 3 ft wide and 6 ft long with plastic under for easy cleaning. Only side walls no tops or bottoms. (that may change) I have tons of screen doors so tops are easy. I have also made divider panels so I can divide it into individual pens if needed. 4 is probably the most I divide one.
I made four of these lined up in our work shop. I have 25 babies in one, 16 in 3/4 of one and 2 in the other 1/4. another with unruly young roos divided into 4ths. The last one is being used as a hospital and is divided into 3rds. I still have my little bitty 2x3 brooders for the little itty bitty tinny whinny new babies so I can play with them more. Hubby needs to set up more chairs now for the chicken TV.... one at each pen! These are very handy right now, I can only imagine how handy they are going to be the first of the year for the new babies... once I get these outside.... SOON!!!!
