Put a new hatched chick in with the quail or else a small stuffed toy so it doesn't run itself to death looking for company;-)

besides, he wouldn't have run to death, I had the eggs all in a plastic basket about 6x8" in case i had chicks hatching same time, to keep them seperated.

Welcome to byc! Run out and buy a cabinet incubator, you are gonna need it if you hang around us poultry addicts

I was going to use the 20 to start, but found a pre-fab lid for the 10 so that was easier to get going fast... i'll work on the 20 this weekend (cleaning and making a lid).

ETA: just checked the webcam on the incubator. 'just in case'...

what breeds are you interested in? another source i've found, is joining the breed specific threads, there's usually people you can contact that will sell eggs if/when they have them but don't advertize as much.

I had 41 baby quail in a fish tank, tonight I moved them to a big storage bin
they needed the room! What's hatching ladies and gents?
