well, not really project, but kinda. I'm trying to learn the genetics behind each of the color varieties, so the easiest way for me to do that is to cross, then breed them back to each other and see what i get. the colored hens (momma's to these eggs) will eventually come home with me too, but they're with a red dorking roo right now, because that's all she's got. and once they're here, they'll go with a silver roo, until i have colored roo of my own. on order from sandhill, and also eggs on the way end of next week.
my intent is to breed for pure colors and work toward SOP, but also create crosses to learn the genetics. if crosses and/or their eggs are sold it will be as crosses, not pure, but most likely they'll go to the freezer in the long run, since it would be a shame to cull pure color birds, if they have any resemblance to the sop... they can go to the monthly sales, once they start back up (hopefully they will).
so a project of learning what goes into making a dorking such, but not really since i'm not trying to standardize an odd color (like mille fleur cochins, or lavender orpingtons)
