I've started 241 eggs since Thursday in addition to the 132 that were already going. I already have 30 more so far saving up till next Thursday. Might this be some sort of addiction?
I set eggs on Thursdays so I have chicks ready to go to the local auction on Saturday mornings. This week I turned $16 worth of "eating eggs" into $91!

Gotta support the habit.

You need help....

I thought I was going to be bad. I have maybe 10 doz or more (now that I think about it more like 20 doz) I can set this week.... I am going to pace myself so I can keep up with the hatcher's size. I feel like a light weight now.....

I think some are going to be eaten and replaced with fresher eggs were I can.

New incubator (540 egg cap.) is warming up nicely!!!!

Tomorrow I should be able to set eggs. Only 4 doz maybe.... or maybe I need to just build another hatcher.....

I have 20 in the bator now on day 15 or 16, just set 10 or so in the hatcher yesterday.

Moved all the older babies to the shop to get acclimated to the cooler weather, but still with a light. I got 2 Good Shepard BR and they are just naked at 1 1/2 months old so they still need a light I think. I also only found maybe 3 roos in that batch... I hope that stays pullet heavy

and all the other hatches. My Marans babies seem to be pullet heavy too.

I have red and colored/red cross dorking eggs growing in my 'bator!

she sent eggs up to a month old, (it seemed a shame to not give them a chance) and the oldest that's developing was 17 days when they were set! not to mention in the hands of the dear USPS for 3 days...

that they keep growing.

14 of the 31 sent are on day 5 (4 of them are colored/red cross). plus my own silver grey dorkings (1 @ d11, 2 @ d7, and 3 @ d5).

prayers are being said to "any and all major or minor deities, who may or may not exist". 8) gotta cover the bases.

I just set 115 eggs in the new bator

I will set more in 3 days. I have 5 1/2 doz more that needed to wait. May add more if my CL ad produces anyone that wants me to hatch some of mine. I have many doz that could be hatched... hate to waste them too.... I took them to Newnan and didn't get a chance to sell them. Next year I may get a booth or table or what ever they called it.

Those are not the ones I am trying to sell

These are for me, mostly. Some are old and I don't think they will hatch but I am going to give it a try. The next batch is for me too. THEN if I have not sold them I MAY hatch them too....

I committed to the Easter Hatch along. Can't keep up with the thread--about 60-80 posts a day. Had put the marans in lockup sequestered from the free ranging flock. Have hopes of selling a few of the eggs and having a few for my own hatching. ALso segregated a group of EE/Ameraucas. Hope to get the BO separated. I can see the advantage of hatching all groups at once and raising together in ONE pen. Finally have the last 3 batches out of the house. ANd now that DH has finished all the coops do I dare tell him I need more breeding pens??

Make a little money first... My DH says he is still in support mode... soon he will cut the money off. But I don't think that will be till next year. I am still building my flock now. He told me to start making some BIG brooders. Great another project...
