I packed about 13 dozen eggs today!

I think I am glad I didn't sell ALL the eggs I had. We had to repair a sewer pipe so we were late getting to the farm. It was nearly 7 when we got home. I am so glad I found better ways to cut the bubble wrap, or we would still be there.

It DOES seem like the ones you help have problems...hmmm....now if ONLY I could leave 'em be!

I have an EE right now with a splayed out leg...tried the hobbles but it seems it's in the hip joint?? I don't know but after the hobble was on for a couple of days it can get around better. Now the dilemma...if it's a boy we butcher, if it's a hen...the kids wanna keep her...

well, i couldn't stand it... they were hollering so loud from the back room i couldn't just leave them. i helped. i started openning them up (2 red dorkings) and they still had blood vessels active in the membrane, so i just pulled some shell off the membrane without breaking it so they could wiggle a bit more freely and left them till this morning. both were quite ready to come out, but as of this afternoon, their toes still haven't uncurled... they're hobbling around pretty good tho, and in the brooder with the rest of the chicks, so

even if they don't make it, at least they had a chance.

Use one as a hatcher! That way if I have a staggered hatch I"m all set.
Too late. I already have the new one full as well. I am hatching (in both bators) my eggs and my sister in law some eggs. Plus I put in the bought eggs. I didn't want to take the chance of them getting messed up. The other HM bator seems to keep the temp up but it also flickers a lot. Not sure what is going on there. It didn't do that before we changed it by drilling holes and setting it so the back is in the bator and it can be adjusted from the outside with a screw driver. The eggs are mostly too dark to see so I have thrown out only 4 of those eggs. They were all clear and light enough to see through. The new one I have not yet candled those eggs. I did when I put them in to see if the bought eggs had the air sack in the top and they did. I can see through them so they will have to be my test for that bator. Isn't this fun. I could do this all the time......well, at least I think that now..

Hi all

Hmm... I'm definately a hatch addict too. Hope you don't mind me just popping in to say hi to some fellow hatchers.

I've got 2 full forced air boators going, and a still air I only use for lockdowns. I've seen several of you are talking part in the hatch-a-long too. Almost there!
