Quote: Awesome, thanks. If I vanish about a month from now, send someone to check the impact zones on the ranges on Quantico... I've decided to bypass the dog house and take over a section of the garage instead. My husband may just kill me. Haha
The dog house works best as a turkey nest box!! Besides the garage is half yours, too. You might point that out when he notices the section of the garage you take over. GL

Actually it's basically all mine now. He stared parking his motorcycle in their and his car out front, so my jeep is the only thing out there (besides the bike) so there's plenty of space. Hopefully I don't give the poor man a heart attack. Haha

I started with the chickens, added the ducks and the turkeys and DH enjoys throwing out the corn after a long day at work.

When getting local eggs do you think I would be better off to get then all from one source or to get them from two or three people and keep track of who I got them from an what hatches the best, ect. Seems like I would be better served to get a dozen or so from 3 different sources just in case someone is selling duds. I may be over thinking all of this though.

i might suggest if you go with multiple sources, space them out so you hatch each source at a different time (staggered hatches if you have a separate hatcher?) that way it's easier to know who hatched from which eggs.

Waiting to get home and get started on all my projects is killing me. My boys and I are staying with family right now while I heal from a broken foot. I'm going to be one busy mama when I get home, building my coop, and my raises bed (and getting plants for it. I had started seeds but my husband has a black thumb and has managed to kill them all in my two month absence). I really hope my compost worms haven't starved with me gone, I know my husband had anything to add to their bin since he's been living off of chef boyardee and ramen noodles since I've been gone. Lol

Honest question (not trying to be snarky) but does it matter once they hatch? I was thinking I would just mark all the eggs and go from there. Do I need I know which chicks came from who once they hatch?

How much room you have and how many breeds you fall in love with. 1500 eggs! How often to you fill that!?
well I have 9 breeds coming in june (trying to get a few more to go with them) as i lost my flock to a fire but I was setting 500 eggs a week from Feb, to May with 1000 for the week before Easter
