I haven't even hatched out my first batch, and already I'm thinking about what I can put in next. My husband's gonna kill me
My DH sat and videoed a chick hatching, from pip to zip to popping out all wet and tired. He did this on his Phone and sent parts of it to the grandkids and my sister. He also is the one who decided we needed to build another grow out pen.
But he still says" Another box of eggs?? How much did that one cost??""

He is checking on the hatcher tonight as the "Mystery ducks" have all pipped and there are a Welly and an EE "control" due out today. He'll sit and watch them and doze off.

It's funny how the wife used to complain about all the new chickens and such, but now that I hatched out some chickens just for her (Mille Fleur D'Uccles) she doesn't seem to mind. Now if I could just convince her that she needs her own sportsman

Broody number one has hatched out 6 beautiful chicks. They look like little penguins (so cute)!

Broody two and three are still sitting but due to hatch in a week. And last but not least who comes walking back in the yard today but my long lost Cochin hen Pumpkin who has been missing for about 3 weeks to a month. She came out to eat today when I was actually home to catch her and low and behold she has about 2 dozen eggs hidden in a nest in some nettles right next to the barn. Such a sneak. She wouldn't let me count them but boy there are a lot. She must have been stock piling them there for a while before she decided to sit on them. No idea when she will hatch but it looks like I will be up to my eyeballs in chickens. I guess next year I better tell them when I plan to be done hatching so they know not to go broody anymore. **sigh.

Pumpkin on her makeshift nest goo thing it's been warm.

Good afternoon fellow incubators...... a quick question. I'm on my second (hopefully successful) hatch and for the first one we used a strictly still air, jacked the humidity up on day 18, and it went well......however with this one, we added a computer fan and we are questioning turning the fan off for lockdown. Haven't found much info....

Haven't been able to increase the humidity up as high as with the completely still one, but do we just stick with the 75% and remain calm with the fan on or turn it off and hope the humidity can get up to 80-85% again?

Suggestions anyone???

We have two pips so far and am afraid we're shrinkwrapping with a fan going......Thanks everyone!
