to all hatching today!

These sweedish flwoer hens are crazy. They go from nothing to out in what seems like minutes. I just checked about 20 minutes ago we had one baby out and one cuckoo that is about 1/3 of the way zipped but hasnt done anything in hours . no pips that I could see no peeping eggs nothing and then I just checked about 5 minutes ago and there are 2 more babies out witch makes 3 babies out. I hope that the cuckoo eggs are ok. I would hate to have non hatch I was really looking forward to them and I have a lady who really wants one .
Edit that only two are out we miss counted. I can see the beak of the cuckoo I turned the incubator around a little so I could see more clear. Its dead. I feel so bad why would he pip , zipp a little ways then just die. My humidity was only around 74 and still air temp is 100.7

humidity much over 65% makes the air harder to breathe for something that's just learning, so it puts a strain on the chick. some can handle it, others may not.

for a hatcher, usually anything between 45-65% is good. i try to keep mine between 50 and 60%.

ok thank you. I have two sfh chics im leaveing the rest overnight then i will peek in the tops . Im gonna have to try a diffrent hatching method this hasnt worked well with anything but quail o.o

Gahh I have to figure out what the issue is out of 7 sfh and 6 I think cuckoo maran eggs that made it to lock down I got 2 sfh babies . I just opend the top of all the egs and every single one had a fully formed baby that just never pipped . Is my humidity to low in the begging and to high in the end or what. I do high 30s to the high 40s giver or take for the first 18 days and then 70s for the last days with both vent pluggs un plugged . Its bad enough if there are lots of clear eggs or earlly quitters but Its so frustrateing to have the babies make it to day 20 or so and then die .

i'd say your humidity's probably too high overall... i dry incubate, around 15-20%, then up to 50-60 the last 2-3 days. i tend to lockdown around day 19 unless i see internal pip earlier.

ok a repost for some who may not have read this entire thread, or somehow just missed it...

pete55 has a series of threads/articles he's written that are a MUST in my opinion, for anyone seriously interested in incubating and hatching eggs.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/595007/incubation-and-hatching-guide

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/632744/guide-to-humidity-and-weighing-in-incubation

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...t-of-damaged-and-mal-positioned-egg-air-cells

the titles for each are pretty self-explanatory. i re-familiarize myself with each one now and then, to remind myself of things i may have forgotten...

his incubation guide is also in the april/may edition of backyard poultry magazine as well, if you prefer a hard copy to go back to.

and if you're reading this pete, thanks again. you'll never know how much help you've been.
