Some people hatch shipped eggs in cartons due to compromised air cells.
I have this incubator and love it. Had my first 100% hatch in it early fall the first time I used it. (Haven't used it since; 25 eggs in now.)
I had heard that the hygro wasn't accurate BUT the ones they are sending out now have a different one (digital) that I have tested against another and it's very accurate.
Also not sure why the person up there has it on a sleeping bag? Mine holds steady (within 0.5 degrees, but it only varies by that much for a few minutes, tops) to set temp if it's set properly. There's a setting from ambient temp of 65-70 degrees or 70-75 degrees, etc.
I've got serama and silkie eggs in it now and have it set to 99.7 (because I heard serama need slightly higher temps) and I've occasionally seen it read 99.5 or 100.1, but it will re-stabilize to set temp as I watch.
