Incuview Incubator

Both my knock off and my brinsea have a doomed hood.

the biggest difference is the quality of the materials, and the knock off has "the works" in the bottom

@aliciaplus3
When you say "quality of the materials" could you define that? What is the difference in quality and, specifically, which are you comparing?

Also - if you were only going to own 1 incubator, would it be the Brinsea or your "knockoff"?

Thanks! :caf
Quality of materials. ... yes the brinsea hood is made out of plastic that is twice as thick and it is double pane across the top so it holds the heat much better. My knock off lid is thin plastic only one thick, I have compensated for this by wrapping it with a throw ( the vent holes are on the underside ) when i hatch in it I put down a shelf liner and a card board deflector right above the fan/heating unit and it still can get hatching gunk in it. So I have to take it completely apart to clean. The brinsea has the "works" in the lid making it much easier to clean. I would keep the brinsea if I was only allowed one unit, simply for the consistency of the temps and the fact that mine has the built in humidity pump. Not to mention that replacement parts do not apears to be available for the knock off.....

Anyone find a good way to separate eggs at hatch, to keep diff crosses separated, in this bator?
I've been successful with using little basket type things, but you have to find sizes that won't hit the shorter part of the lid where it curves down. I scour the plastics aisle at goodwill. Found this one that was meant for baby nipples in the dishwasher. I've also made my own baskets out of hardware cloth, but that can be tedious, making sure there are no sharp edges. I'm sorry I can't find pictures of mine. All that stuff is packed away now.

I have read of people using mesh bags, and I think I would like to try that, if I can find the right kind.

Your knockoff doesn't sound anything like an Incuview, I don't think.

I guess I posted to add my 2cents about keeping hatch-lings separate and got carried away. my knock off does not appear to be modeled after the incuview. forgive me for high jacking the tread.

We have just ordered our Incuview incubator and we are excited! We plan to hatch Muscovy eggs in March that we have on order from a local hatchery. We want this to be something our grandchildren will enjoy and learn from, as well as adding Muscovies to our farm. We will pick the eggs up ourselves, so no shipping through mail will be necessary. As soon as we get our eggs in March, I’m sure we will be here for support and your expertise. :)
