India Blue How do there colors change though there different life stages?

Thanks so any other thoughts? Treatment options and steps to treat, I am nervous about poking him so close to his eye with a needle, I have Tylan 200 and I picked up 22 GA Needle it's the smallest that they have at tractor supply.
At the risk of sounding like an idiot here....I have seen other postings from Dawg53 where he has told someone to give the tylan orally rather than an injection. Wouldn't this be a better way to go rather than an injection? Don't mind me, I just hate the thoughts of needles if there's a way around it. You may lose some of the effectiveness giving it by mouth, but it seems to me it would cover the whole body quicker this way rather than waiting for it to absorbe into the blood stream from a smaller area.

Giving it orally is an option. I think it's only the procaine penicillin that does not work properly if given orally.

So what do you guys think? I don't know what to do, The bird is very sweet and is the only one that will come over to me willingly, His eye doesn't look odd to me but it has been this way since I got him about two weeks ago, it does not seem to be getting any worse.

I have also read posts where they squirt it right on the eye, is that affective? Thanks

P.S should I give Tylan or should I wait I don't want to give meds for no reason.

I hate to suggest this, but is there any chance you can take him to the vet? At least for a diagnosis if not treatment?
It's probably going to be difficult for someone here to say exactly what his problem is without being able to look at him in person.
Whatever his problem is, it's hard to identify from pictures alone.
If it is something like scar tissue, then he probably just needs help improving his general health - as casportpony says, he looks a bit droopy. If you find out for sure that he has some kind of an infection, injury, or other problem, then I'm sure peapeople here will be able to give you better suggestions for how to help him.

Not having had to medicate my peafowl yet, I'm guessing here but I will say that from everything I've read about them so far if there is any indication or a possible problem, do it. I don't know about putting it in the eye but I think that giving it to him orally cannot hurt at this point. Something is bothering that poor little guy, meds and some vitamins can't hurt.

I agree, if you have one in the area. I'm wondering if whatever it is might have something to do with the top of his head being pecked. Maybe the feather folicles could be starting to show a slight infection? That's why I was thinking meds orally, better chance of it getting to the skin as well as eyes and everything else. This is just a guess on my part, I'm still so new to Peafowl it's all I can offer at this time.

That I can't help you with, I'm sorry. I have never used it myself. Below is a copy of a posting on another thread on BYC. This man knows his stuff and if Casportpony or New2 don't chime in here soon I would say you could use this dosing. This was for a chicken, so smaller, but again, guessing, I don't think it would be too far off.

It has been a rollar coaster ride with her this week. I will try to have a closer look at her ears tonight when I give her, her pill. Maybe I can figure out how to do this.
The symptoms you originally described, and now with a swollen eye and the other one barely open leads me to believe you are dealing with a respiratory disease, the inner ear infection is most likely a secondary infection caused by whatever disease she's been exposed to. I recommend that you stop the amoxicillin after the 5th day and purchase tylan 50 injectable and dose her orally 1/2cc once a day for 5-7 days...no more than 7 days. Tylan is more geared toward poultry respiratory diseases.
Tylan can be found in the cattle section at your feed store. Be sure you purchase a syringe with a needle to withdraw the tylan from the bottle. I dont recommend purchasing tylan soluable because normally sick birds wont drink it, nor drink enough of it to be effective.
Keep her seperated from your other birds, remember and practice biosecurity. You dont want this spreading to your other birds.
