Our girl Indian Runner has been busy working on a nest each day for her eggs.

From what I have heard they aren't too keen on taking care of babies... does this mean she might be a good mom?

That depends. Runners are not cherished for their motherly instincts. Some start a clutch and sit on it anyways but don't keep sitting on the nest for the necessary 28 days and decide to quit early while others may actually incubate until hatch day and then abandon the offspring. And then there are ducks that do accept of their ducklings but do not treat them very well.

Your duck might either be a good or a lousy mom, hard to tell before it happens.
