Yep they all get along fine all 12 of them (The rouens are waiting to go to their new home in about a week though) The Goose won't let anybody out of his sight for one second.....such a good surrogate father lmao

My gander is the same way, he is like my duck and ducklings body guard. it's so cute, why are the rouens going to a new home? And do you still have Pete? Does he like all his new friends?

A girl in the FFA contacted me, because she knew I had ducks, and she asked if she could have them. Pete doesn't like anybody, as of right now he's in his own separate enclosure. I've tried to intigrate him in with everybody and it's just not working. He's started going after the kids, the baby goats and grabbing them by the tips of their ears making them bleed, he's even started attacking the dogs, to the point my boxer growls at him now. He is going to a new home tomorrow night as I don't have it in me to cull him. We just can't keep moving him around and making new enclosures for everybody...right now he's in the goats outside enclosure and they are locked in the barn. So one of our friends is going to take him in and care for him. I don't know what else to do with him

I have three very young Runners and two of them are very attached to me, they love to snuggle on my neck and take peas from my hand. The third is terrified of me. I rescued them from a terrible man who had them out in the cold with no food, water, or way to stay warm. I think Quackers had a bad experience with him or his girlfriend and now is too scared to accept me. He acts much like a puppy that's been kicked, he runs around peeping like I'm going to eat him. I've tried treats but he wont even get close enough to take them from me. So I set them on the ground near me and he will run up and grab it and run back into the corner to eat it. Does anyone have any advice on how to teach him that I'm safe and won't hurt him? I never take him out alone, I always take out one of the others so that he has a calm influence around but it doesnt seem to help.

Runners can be very nervous birds even when they have not been abused. just keep doing what you are doing and before long the scared one will realize that you bring good things and it should trust you more. This will take some time.

Thank you. What are they usually like as adults? They were sort of an impulse buy, I just had to rescue them.

I think you are going to find your runners will have a totally different personality than your Muscovy. I have never had Runners although I want to at some point, But from all I read folks says they can be a little on the nervous side where Muscovies are more laid back. As fowlman said it will take time but they will learn to trust you. and you said it yourself that you aren't being pushy with them especially the more timid one, it will learn by watching the others that you are bearer of good things. My 3 Muscovy girls we got last September had never had any human contact other than someone dumping food into a bowl, when we brought them home they were terrified of us, It has taken several months for them to come around, now they will eat out of my hand and even follow their main man in inside the house if the door is open. LOL

Yea, I'm just trying to hold him as much as he will let me and am trying to get him and another out a few times a day for some special treatment. It's so weird to look at him versus Cheese, because she is the one always crying for me to pick her up. And then of course, if she is being held, Bean has to be held too. They're just like human kids lol
