hey china, where did you get your white silkies from? im in the market for another pullet.

The 2 week old chicks I have right now came from cjexotics. They are such pretty babies too, very sweet natured. I love that no matter which one I pick up, the moment I set them down on my chest, they go straight to sleep. They snuggle right up and close their eyes. Real sweethearts. My older Silkie chicks (there are 3), I got their parents last year from Cackle. Sweet little birds.

CJ has beautiful silkies. I have some also. With more in the bator.

It depends. My guineas liked to lunge at my chickens and pull their feathers out.

I ended up putting peepers on my guineas. They still live with the chickens, but they are all wearing peepers.

Also, an adendum to what I posted I would/could have......

I forgot to say that I still have a few mini rex bunnies, a white and brown spotted one, and a reddish brown one - $10 each, and a black one that has a problem with its left eye, for Free.

I may also have a few coturnix chicks too.

I know for a fact that we weill be looking for cortunix. That will be the first thing we look for when everybody gets there. We'll be there friday evening so I'm sure as soon as we seen some we'll get them. We haven't discussed just how many we want to start with but knowing DH, there is no limit. So to all quail owners keep us in mind. If we haven't goten to you please look us up. I've got 2 bators that will be empty too.

Chseeads, you have all sorts of things I want! Definitely put me down for 3 turkeys. One of them will be Thanksgiving dinner and the other two will be insurance.

What age do you recommend getting to grow a good-sized but not astronomically huge bird by November? They will be free ranging. And can you tell me what colors your guineas are that you have available? So far I have 2 royal purple, one buff dundotte (I think) and 15 pearls. I'd like to round them out a bit. And if I had housing for muscoveys I'd be all over those too. Do you have pics of yours? Maybe next year...

How old will the quail be at chickenstock? DH wants to get a bunch. To have some ready for the table when we get home would be a real treat. He wants to start raising them ourselves so he will be buying up a bunch and as I stated before we will have 2 empty bators.

I'm gonna add rabbits to the my list of wants. DH wants rabbits. I guess since he lets me have what I want I can bend a little on this one. lol He rescued this oppr little lop eared bunny from starvaton last night. Somebody was selling them at the town festival and you know how it goes. they all cute and cuddly then they get tired of them. This poor little guy was having to run from the house dog and was eating scraps. We bought it rabit food and it ate for about 2 hours. Poor thing, I can feel it's spine and ribs. It's too bad we can't make people take care of the animals they take in. Anyway. I'm ranting in the wrong place.
He has been wanting to raise rabbits for food. Not to sell to stupid people. lol Anyway, His wants list is cortunix quail, rabbits and hesants. He may even go for some doves. I'm sure when he makes his rounds he'll need a wagon to bring it all back to our campsite. lol
We are soo looking forward to this. It's gonna be our little vacation. We haven't had one in a while. And we love this sort of thing.

There's these 5 babies and one other one that's a little bigger than they are.

Oooh, they're cute! Do you keep muscovies yourself or is this your first batch? Just need a place to keep em.

As for your turkeys, do you raise them for the table at all? How old are they when you process them usually? DH would NOT be pleased with me if I bought turkeys for Thanksgiving and then ended up having to buy one from the store anyway... although there's always Christmas.

You said the oldest you have is about a month old? I'd definitely want those. Better break the news to hubby that we might be outta luck for Thanksgiving, though.

Do you have pics of your guinea babies, too? I'd love a sky blue and a lavender and maybe a whitish one--the younger the better.

And any suggestions for muscovy housing? How much room do they need? I'm so tempted...
