Chicken house is 8x16..... It's quite crowded when everyone is in there, but it's where they all spend the night, then they're let out to a fenced area in the morning......

I traded a trio of my phoenix today for a bunch of quail breeders and chicks and 2 grown buck rabbits. I still have 1 Phoenix rooster that needs a home. If somebody has an offer just PM me. I'll also be bringing Buddy to find a new home where he can take care of somebody's mixed flock as I have no idea what breed he is. I was told americauna but I know that's not true then another said EE. Really, who knows but he's a nice guy and is easy on the girls. He's not mean to them either. He just hangs out with them and makes sure that every hen lays a fertile egg.

We will still be wanting some jumbo cortunix quail and DH wants to find a couple girls for his new boy rabbits so they can get busy to help us stock our freezer for the winter. He's talking about some Phesants and Partrige for the same reason. To raise for food. WE would like some Guinies (sp) to help with the bug population. We live on the edge of the woods. And he is still taking orders for cages. the cages he posted with prices will be out of 1" x 2"wire and the floor will have 1/2 " or 1/2" x 1", they will have wire doors and he'll use J clips to put them together. He plans to use the spring wire latch for the doors. I personally like a small bungee cord with the hooks at both ends. He can make any size you request as long as we can carry it on the truck all the way there from Tennessee. The sizes he quoted for are 2' x 2' x 4' for 20.00 with one door. If you want devider walls they are $5 extra each wall and it includes the extra door. The doors will be on the side of the cage unless you request it be on the top or end. Where ever you decide. Just make sure you mention where you want your door. For a smaller cage there is a 1" x 1" x 9.5" with the door on top. Made out of 1/2 wire. Asking $10 for that. I just carried 13 adult quail home in it. I had 1 quail chick living in it till we got it some buddies to share a larger cage.

He will have the walls cut and doors attached to a wall and ready to assemble when we get there friday. The orders will be ready on Saturday to pick up first thing. We'll be camping out there on friday so we'll be there. Not leaving till Sunday morning

Oh and by the way Buddy is a rooster.

and he will be free to a home that will let him live his life out without being harrassed by other roostrs. He spend most of his life being 3 other roosters hen. When I got him he had a bare back and it was red and sore and no tail feathers. He hung his head and was scared of everything. He will now walk by us or not freak out too often if we walk by him. He will protect his girls against another rooster now. He has grown his "Kahoona's " back. but he is nice to people. He just stays away but is nosey just like any other bird. We don't handle any of our birds by their wings. They get scooped up but we do hold the legs most times. Some we don't have to. WE pet them and talk to them and he sees that. He let me pet him once while he was roosting. He jut need somebody that will just let him be free and happy. I doin't know how old Bubby is but I suspect a few years. He makes fertile eggs. I've hatched out a bunch and so has another BYC'er. She has a thread with them on it about chicklets and EE's She just got another 14 eggs the other day so she will be posting them probably after chicken stock. I'll be bringing the chicks I have with me to sell or trade. We always up for a trade. Gotta make a buck or two to get back home though?

Maybe those doe rabbits DH wants or a pair or two of the game birds.

By the way, the rabbits, one is white and the other is a cinnamon color and they are big ones. I don't know the breed other than big. They are definately bucks. He proved it right there. So DH wants some does old enough to breed\\ if possible

My big coop that holds the egg layers is 16' x 14' and it has a wire wall im the middle with a door so i can separate them. It also has a covered run that is 16' x 16' and it is also divided for each side. I have 20 birds in there now. I just opened the door and let the RIR's and Orphington learn to get along with the adults since they will be laying soon. The laying shelf is on the other side and the roosts are on the opposite side. When the door is closed they roost on the nesting shelf since they use the far side and sleep on the near side of the run. They appear to have plendy of room. There is feeding pans on both sides as well as water so no squabbling over that.I will be putting 4 more pullets one of them being a laying hen in the coop soon and replacing the rooster. Boy won't he be confused. lol 23 hens and 1 rooster. I only want the americaunas and production red to be fertile anyway.

Okay, another update with more potential things I could bring.... I have a neighbor that's a bird-raising nut as well, and if anybody is interested in any of the birds he has available, I can get some for you.....

Some of the colors of guineas I have on hand (or may be able to get on hand) come from him because we have been swapping with each other for different stuff...lol

Could have available also:

Buff Sebrights

Gold Sebrights

Large Fowl Blue Cochins

Prices on above chicks - $3 each for small chicks, straight run. $4 or $6, depending on size, for older ones that you can tell the sex on.

Peacock chicks - $20 each

Call Ducks - babies or adult pairs

Crested Ducks

Welsh Harlequins

Prices on any above ducklings - $4 each. Adult call ducks $10 each.

Let me know if any of that tickles your fancies. lol
