INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

i work crazy shifts so my wife is usually the one to take care of the chicks. i think she really has just had her heartbroke too many times by her favorites dying and doesn't want to become really attached with them in our basement. our first 27 we got in february and she loved them all so much. maybe too much. now she takes a more stand off-ish approach and she knows if i am hatching in spring and summer she can get them outside to our outdoor brooder faster. on a further note our wood furnace is in our basement and it throws the humidifer way out of wack on the temperature.

have any of you been doing fermented feed??? i experimented with it a couple of months ago and it seems like it was really going good. life got in the way though so i am going to really work on it this summer!!!

I am starting turkeys in the spring so i won't be able too

Hi all from Brookville, Indiana. our family has 28 chickens, 26 hens, two roosters. most are mutts that came out of my original speckled sussex's, golden comets, columbians, and gold laced wyandottes. my wife thinks i'm chicken crazy and even crazier for wanting to set up the incubator right now. so to avoid world war three i will wait until spring( and no later that march 21!!!!) nice to see an indiana thread going. i'd like to be added to the member's list
I have added you to our members list. If you would take a look at it and make sure everything is correct. Thanks Cluck Acres.

mine went out all day in the snow. they can free range as they please and they were everywhere. i only think a couple stuck in the coop

We had some pretty strong winds and drifting here. I didnt want to take the chance. I will let them all out tomorrow tho. All mine free range as well. I have a automatic door that opens at 7am and closes at 9pm.
