INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Second Set: Laying flock and Turkeys Egyptian Fayoumi - Pharaoh of the flock. He's the closest to a gentleman I've got. He calls the ladies over and feeds them before jumping them. Turkeys are WAY more curious than chickens. This on follows me around and talks to me the whole time I'm in the run. Welsummer. Nice dark brown eggs. Polish pullet. Every so often I have to catch her and trim the feathers around her eyes so she stops running into things. Medium white egg. Queen Fayoumi. Smallest hen, biggest attitude. Small white eggs. Silver Duckwing Phoenix. Earliest to lay. Small white egg. Golden Spangled hamburg. Prettiest pullet I have. Small white egg. Love the silver coloring on this hen. My male Buffed Polish. My partner and friends call him 'Penelope'. The Fayoumi sneaks up on him and gooses him all the time. Silver Laced Cochin roo. Silver Leghorn. Decent sized white egg. My Royal Palm Jake. Biggest bird I have, lots of room to grow yet. Turkeys waiting for a handout from my partner. Dark Brahma pullet. Love the coloring. Last of my group to start laying. Big light brown eggs. Cowabunga! Stinkeye as only a broody can do. My phoenix pullet. Went broody after laying for only two months. My happy barnyard. Everybody looking for chicken crack!
great chick pics!!! I've been eyeing the hamburgs. On my spring list for sure. And possibly welsummers. The polish breed crack me up.

Racinchickins - Such a beautiful flock! Like eye candy! I love seeing everyone'w chickens and other fowl.

Am I correct in thinking that the cream legbars will lay blue eggs? What are the legbars' personalities supposed to be like - aggressive? laid-back? curious? tending to go broody? friendly toward humans? I am considering what chickens we will purchase when the time comes and I don't see any info on cream legbars. Why are they called cream legbars if they aren't cream-colored?

I have had 2 hens that crow !!!!

Quote: The thought has crossed my mind too. I really like the fact you can create a member chat, and it be real time conversation.

The Orps I have gotten have all seemed to be late developers too!!
Mine too. I only have one laying and they are over 6 months now.

Checked this morning and now I have two chicks fully hatched and another nearly out of the shell. That just leaves one more egg besides the two I knew were a week off. Still tryin to figure out what to do with those. I've been advised to pull them, and also told it will be fine to leave them and let her sit. The tractor they are in is big on the inside. I think I'll go ahead and put food and water in chicks reach tonight (right now it's out in the little run) as I'm sure mom won't leave her nest with those eggs still there. BaaaaBies!
Congrats, so exciting! Dont forget pics!!!

Small update on my Lavenders.

Although later than I like to feed them last night I decided to spend a few minutes in there and have a chat with them. Now my sister has gone home I can spend a few extra minutes out there and not feel bad.
So, I am glad I did. I am now confident I have a rooster and a hen. Looking back on the earlier pictures I kinds see it, but last night it was obvious.

Defiantly more obvious in this picture too. Her tail feathers have grown out ( a week since I took those scraggy tail feather pictures)

Think this is the one I posted, take of her last week. Looking at the above picture her tail is now full and hen like.

So I now clearly see saddle feathers on him (the other pictures just looked like he has messy feathers).
He is still letting me picking him up for now, so I am going to try and handle him as much as he will allow and maybe he won't be a jerk.
At this age I have not see any rooster activities and he can still be skittish with a few of the hens who get in his face. Guess I had a late developer.

Lavender Orp, EE mixes anyone?
Hehe, I am very curious to see the results! Mine were so slow to mature, only 1 roo has tried to act roo-ish that i have seen.
The hen promptly attacked him (Miss Bunny my EE)

DH works around commercial construction delivering stone etc. He likes to talk and swap/trade. Always seems to run into things like those trailers!
The permits etc to move them was not expensive either, like $40.

busy mom trying to raise these two plus hatch the rogue eggs this rookie allowed to make it to the nest. Can she do it all? Is she the real wonder woman super mom?

Phew I finally have a minute to myself! This week has been crazy and it's only tues!!! Last Friday I surprised my hubby for his birthday; packed the kids and everything up and we went camping for the weekend. Got home Sunday and found out my SIL had been having contractions all weekend so I got a call early Monday morning that I needed to get my niece at some point. I threw my 2 kiddos in the truck to make a trip to Laffy to get my bottle babies I had planned to pick up. Got home, got the calves settled and threw everyone back in the car to go to Indy to get my niece and meet my nephew! Wrangled three kids to bed finally and then hit the ground running again this morning! My poor chickies must feel neglected!

Oh and it's stunking HOT outside just in case anyone was wondering!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to post pics from my phone? Ill share my new babies with everyone!

racinchickins LOVED the pictures, especially the fayoumi, and bet the door will make things so much easier.
Dinner looks yummy too!
My big RP tom is at least 25-30 pounds, I have trouble picking him up once he starts to wiggle!

Adorable!

So I'm not really a fan of bantams except silkies and modern games. That being said, I am very very tempted to bid on these beauties! I'm probably going to regret posting these and creating competition for them

, but I just had to share.

LOL! If you do, I want on your list for eggs

they are just too adorable!

Thanks again for the thoughts and the hugging smilies. Between you guys and my silly hens, I feel like I'm okay at this point. I think dear Frou-Frou knew something was wrong yesterday. She was following me relentlessly, even into the coop addition that I had blocked off for Margaret's integration. Such a sweetie. Then I was feeding wild grapes off the vine to the girls and I ended up with Rangi on my shoulder. She's a smart one, she is! She sat up there for the longest time snatching grapes out of my hands before I could toss them to the rest of the girls. And, of course, there was the whole event of Rosie laying an egg and then crowing over and over again for a good 15 minutes afterward. I've got a video--I'll upload it eventually for y'all to see. Strangely enough, she is not the first hen I've had that crows.

That's the thing, I wasn't selling anything. Someone was commenting on one of my young roosters and I pretty much just said they could have him if they wanted him.

That's why I wonder why the mods can edit our posts with no reason given to us. Seems kinda creepy. ^^^Did you just post that???^^^ Or did someone else?

Maybe we should move to facebook , where we aren't moderated !!!
Facebook? I don't have an account. Just what I need, more things to do and more time to waste on the 'net.
It's a HOLMES. The slider for the speed and power can be adjusted from the front and back. As long as you keep clean you should be fine as far as fire goes. Any fan let to get gunked up is a fire hazard. I have hardware cloth over my windows and my fan in on the inside, so when it sucks dust up, the hardware cloth catches a lot of it. The fan is easy to remove and flip around to point outside and to clean. I actually have it installed upside down to go in the top of the double hung window. It can be turned over and put in the bottom of the window also.
Uh, isn't that advertising? You know you are inviting the government (mods) to edit your post, right?

Alright, enough from me and I'll get off my soapbox.

Racin, great pictures. Love your new auto-door. Maybe your coop will ''vomit chickens'' when it opens, like John's does lol. Tho they may not come out so fast, I think his is on a timer instead of a sensor. Our flock of 7 sleep outside in the run, I really haven't had much use of my cool pop-door opener. I have a rope attached to it for access outside our run. Our small run/coop is quite predator proof. More like Fort Knox.
