Poem:
My mother feeds me chicken
It always makes me cough
I wish that when she fixes it
She'd take the feathers off.

Bummer. You mean I have to take the feathers off?

On those flat-bed scales, just how do y'all that use them keep a chicken on it?

I can imagine making a container or sling to use for the hanging scales and making that work. But I'd really rather have a flat scale for various reasons.

Do you just weigh a box/bucket/cage of some sort then change the tare weight and put the chicken inside? (Of course, to do that, the scale needs to let you readjust zero.

Went to the doctor yesterday. Apparently eating my chickens' eggs compared to store bought has brought my cholesterol down 30 points. :weee How do I reward myself after hearing that? Fried pork chops and peas with lots of butter...

After I got off work yesterday I went straight up to the farm to feed the chickens.  I could hardly get out of my Jeep because I was surrounded by chickens and turkeys! I don't have a husband or human kids to come home to, but that doesn't bother me when I have 20+ birds at my feet making all kinds of racket when I get home!! Maybe they are just waiting to see what treats or scraps of food I have with me, but it's nice either way.

I tell my customers that my eggs have less cholesterol than store bought. You are I living proof!! Congrats! Keep it up, :bun

Hobbles are placed on animals to limit stride length. It was more commonly done to horses to allow them to walk around and eat near a campsite on the plains, but not run away.

I did it to keep the new girls from chasing down my other chickens and killing them. It quickly became apparent that the situation was opposite to what I expected, so I removed them so the new girls could run away when being harassed.

My flock is soooo much calmer with the mean girls gone. What kind of birds do you have?

I alternate sevin dust with permithin poultry dust to avoid resistance in the pest population.

By any chance, do you know the ditty about the pelican? My grandfather taught me that one when I was about 3, got me in a bit of trouble.....

I didn't think that monkeys were APA or ABA!!!!

pbirdhaven posted: They will be at the Lebanon show, so get on their case there. If Jennifer is there, she's the one to talk to (blond with a monkey);
A monkey at a poultry show? I bet it's not a bio-hazard!

Actually I think that the monkey is one of the judges. Or maybe it's who took CCCC's subscription information!

Bacon sandwich. 12 strips of thin-sliced on whole wheat and mustard.

Just remember, if you die in the chicken yard and are not discovered soon enough, your pets will eat you. Remember, they are small raptor dinosaurs.

she could lay a white egg, you never know. most people think that their EEs are fir sure going ti lat blue ir greeen eggs, tht is not true. they can lay blue green pink brown, and white. I have yet to have one lay white but know of people who have had one. Now her feather pattern is probably the most common feather pattern out of EEs.

One of the EEs I just got from Darthlayer lays a white egg. Unless my rooster has finally decided to start pulling his weight around here ;)
oh wait the roosters lay the double yolkers, it's gotta be one of the EEs then!
