INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Where do you put it on the chicken?
It's very similar to how you'd put on the flea/tick meds for cats and dogs. I hold the chicken under one arm and do a balancing act with the syringe in the other hand while also parting the feathers at the base of the neck kinda between the shoulder blades and slowly squirt as to only get it on the skin as you don't want it on their feathers but their skin.

BTW: Day 19 and I am hearing peeps coming from the incubator!! Any day now! Thursday is hatch date but I'm betting I get a few tomorrow by the sounds of it! I had that last time. only some of the peeps started day 18 right after I took them out of the turner..had a few hatch day 19 then too. Wondering if my temp on it is running a little hotter than its reading. Hmmmmmm

This is the time I find myself struggling being away from it! Which will be harder on me cuz it's down in the basement. Last hatch I had it in my bedroom so it was easy to disappear for 15 mins at a time and my family just thought I was back in the master bath or something! LOL Funny how DH and boys freak out yelling for me if they can't find me in the "house"! Ha! They will then go out to the chickens ... they never think to look in the basement! That's more the boys playroom ... not mine!

What breed are you hatching?

I'm pretty sure Ivermectin has a withdrawal period for meat and eggs. Wazine does as well. Valbazen I believe is questionable. It doesn't have a withdrawal for other animals when slaughtered, but most still recommend a withdrawal period. Eprinex is an Ivermectin product that seems to work better than ivermectin and I believe does not have a withdrawal period.

I have found the Rooster Booster dewormer at Rural King. It does not have a withdrawal period and I believe they are one of the very few actually approved as a dewormer for chickens.

Yes Ivomec Eprinex is what I was referring to. It does not have a withdrawal nor does the Rooster Booster.

You definitely sound like an expectant mother! Good luck on your hatch.
Thanks!

So .. all of a sudden I already have 2 external pips! I have seen another jigglin and chirping so got a couple other internal pips! Counted them out and looks like I've got 42 total. 7 silkie, 8 OE, 5 Marans, 11 RIR+11 NN (?) again..so hard to tell their eggs from the RIR..some I can but then others are questionable! As of right now it's the NN and RIR that are pipin'

Glad everyone seems to be ok after the storms this weekend! Defiantly glad to hear Farker and Old Salt are alright! I'm thankful the wind has finally quit howling here today too!!

Spent my morning playing Tetris with straw bales. Now I'm ready for a nap!
