INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

My Meyers catalog came today and was shocked to see they added legbars this year! It doesn't list price so I'm curious to see what they cost. They also added olive eggers. Even though I have the birds to make them myself, may just have to order some of them!

Scratch that, not paying $10 for a pullet olive egger lol.

I got mine today too. Havent looked at it yet. Considering the fact that they say blue ameraucana are extremley rare and a pullet is $20, I am going to guess a legbar pullet would be $40-50.

Awe, I hate to hear that!  I went thru it when I had a small flock....what seems like forever ago!!  Nothing irritated me more than to walk up to those eggs in the store and pick them up...THEN PAY for them!!  Ooooo I hated it!

OK done venting!  LOL

Wait...just realized you said yet...how old is your flock?

I wouldn't mind buying from a BYC'r, but it's rather intimidating searching CL, then making a special trip. Blah!
My birds were hatched around May. They've been moved twice and are still in quarantine, separate from the even younger group I have.
Good news! Lil Roo crowed this morning. Yay. :|

We have a new egg layer. And it's Blue!!! My legbars are starting to lay!!!! I need to get their pen built so I can seperate them from the other chickens. Wasn't thinking I'd see eggs till Spring!

Happy Dance!!!!!!

If you make some yourself, add a couple for me! Actually, I have a list of chickens I'd like for you to do for me, oh great guru of incubating! Maybe you should just open up your own hatchery...

Yeah!! Love the colored eggs!

Homemade egg noodles takes ooodles of eggs!! Wonderful time of year...make up a big bunch of them and have some chicken with noodles; it's a staple for our Thanksgiving feast here!

We love noodles here! I've never made them before, but have thought about it. Guess I need to take the plunge. Let's see...if I make noodles, wouldn't I need to get the pasta maker attachments for my Kitchenaid mixer? At least I could tell my husband I need the attachments -- he won't know if I really do or not -- he'll just love the homemade noodles. Is that kind of like sneaking new chickens into the barn and hoping no one notices???

I'm in Indy and using BYC on my iPad-- my pet peeve, so you all are lucky that I'll have short post.

PeacefulWalls - sounds like your hens weren't traumatized by the storms since they're still laying! :)

Old Salt - I bet when your wife was in the basement and you were outside seeing if the storm was some kind of government conspiracy, she was about to kill you for risking your life! ;)

CRSelvey - I assumed that you'd have the outer coop doors in proper lock down, but you just mentioned have lots of hooks and latches. Lots of people who live in small towns like yours think that's all they need to feel secure. :lol
