Got a question for everyone regarding shipped eggs. I'd like to get perspective of what you would expect from both the seller's and buyer's point of view.
If you purchased eggs from a seller and shipping ended up taking 7 days to get to you instead of the 2 days USPS stated, would you expect the seller to compensate and if so, what should they offer.
If you were the seller and the shipment took the 7 days to get there instead of the 2, would you offer anything to the buyer and if so what would you offer?
Obviously I'm asking as I am in this pickle as we speak. In my ad, I explained shipped eggs has its risks and I can not be liable for hatch rates due to shipping and incubation issues. Well 2 egg shipments went out last Saturday, expecting them to be delivered on Monday and Tuesday per USPS. Well as of this morning, only one is expected to be delivered today, the other looks like it will be delivered on Monday.
One seller has emailed worried about fertility and frozen eggs, both valid concerns. The other seller has never replied to any of my messages. I honestly don't feel I have to compensate in any way, but before they asked, I offered to reship the 10+ eggs for the cost of shipping and I would add a 72 hr heat pack at no additional cost. I charged $15 for shipping ($10 for shipping, and the rest to cover packing materials, time, and gas to PO). They came back and want me to pay for half the shipping! I double checked shipping price and explained that I'm trying to be far to both of us and ultimately said I would reship for $10.50, that I'd pay half the shipping but they would have to pay for heat pack if they wanted it.
I trying to put myself in their shoes as I know how disappointing it is to get bad eggs, but I also don't want to get taken advantage of. I also contacted my other customer telling them I'd replace their eggs as well for the cost of shipping, but they haven't replied back.
Just curious as to what the others expect if they were in both our places.
