I haven't figured out which of my girls is throwing vaulted skulls, but about 1/3 of the chicks have had them.
I always thought people wanted vaults, I guess not.Its hard to find a hatch that doesn't give you vaults. Remember, those vaults are just brain covered with skin and feathers. Those with vaults are more susceptible to head injuries.
Are they bantam, or LF? I will be interested in getting up with you this spring, I will need to add black back to my LF lavenders in a year to keep the colors correct, that gives me plenty of time for them to mature.
I feel ya. I started out with a small coop and have graduated to a barn full of silkie pens.Lol when you have a 3x8 coop yo can. I think I need to upgrade.![]()
No, people do but it is erroneous to think the vault brings the bird more value. You can have just as nice a crest off a non-vaulted bird. People tend to think the vault will help make the crest bigger, when in fact a vault can distort a crest.I always thought people wanted vaults, I guess not.
Do people really try to charge more for the vaulted skulls? I wouldn't think it would add value, but then again i don't know much about silkies( I dont have any).I feel ya. I started out with a small coop and have graduated to a barn full of silkie pens.
