INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Lol are they on your couch?
Yeah I have a couch and love seat in the Den they have been living in. They are probably sick of my camera antics. The boys just kind of sat long enough for a picture and then got tired of me. They climbed down the couch back into the big box. I'm glad they get along. 4 roosters in one box is usually a bad idea. :) Thank goodness for the air purifier, or it would be super messy in there. It keeps the room very clean.

That's awesome! Glad they all get along. I only have two roosters that like to fight. One is a bantam ameraucana. We will say two pounds. He tried to start a fight with my 10-12 lb Plymouth Rock. The PR will not start a fight but man can he end on quick! The other is a HQ barred rock, he is a jerk

I hope you feel better also! I have all sorts of projects too! I am going to be building bee hives, adding 40 feet of flower beds to the back, building deck boxes to line my deck, building treadle feeders to help with the wild bird issues, hauling dirt and planting grass where my plumbing was trenched out to the barn, chicken coop buildout and expanding my garden with a new bed. I wanted to build another raised bed but I'm not sure I have the time with everything else. Anyone have any tips on how to kill the grass where I want my new bed? I don't want to put down chemicals. I do realize I probably should have done it last year, but there was too much going on.
Don't you have any chickens you can use for the job?

. I'm just teasing you, but I thought they would take out a grassy area pretty quickly if you put them in a tractor.

Hello everyone, my name is Rod and l live south of New Castle, and we have 6 Brown Leghorns, 12 Plymouth Barred Rocks and 30 Buff Orpingtons.
Welcome!!

This is what you call a silkie dinner party

And..... The babies are getting bigger! They aren't fond of people though, downside to broody hatching.

That's pretty!!!

I just built and set up my new brooder box. Won't b long it will be full t overflowing!

Really nice! It reminds me that I saw someone repurpose a baby crib for the same thing. I can't remember if it was on Pintrest or Facebook though. Either way, it looks like a nice setup.

Peacefulwalls- Your comment was so funny!!!

Booker is a year old and the kids are almost 5 months. Chance is bossy, and Booker will climb under him if he is scared. Booker has the sweetest personality,so I guess thats why his boys are nice too.

That is funny! I didn't even consider it but I no longer have a tractor and they haven't learned the "sit stay" command. LOL The area is also in the "dog zone" where I am working really hard not to encourage the chickens to go. I already had one suicide with a welsummer that flew the fence :( My four dogs were not brought up with chickens and go into "pack mentality" that will not end well no matter how trainable a couple of them are (the cattle dog/lab mix is 100% untrainable). The cardboard is a good idea, but I'll have to bite the bullet and build the raised bed to do that. I thought about putting tarps down and piling weight on them, i feel like the weight and lack of any sun kills grass pretty quick. Maybe I'll try that and if it doesn't work i can get materials and try the cardboard with the raised beds. It stinks! I was hoping to have my bee hives built this winter but my truck got snowed in the first week in January and has yet to be uncovered fully (really big drifts here). To be honest I probably would have wussed out with this cold anyway since my garage is not insulated.
