INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I don't know how much land you have, but we bought a new john deere 790 in 2007. Its classified as a "compact tractor". It has a side discharge mower, and live PTO. We have about 3 acres of field we mow with our bush hog attachment too, feed that to the goats, cow and pigs. We have several attachments, including a front end loader. I have had no issues with it, none..(knock on wood, hehe) Its been priceless. It was a big investment but there is few projects we need heavy equipment for now. We still plan for the backhoe, feed grinder and tiller attachments. No more worries over moving heavy objects, plowing snow and we even fill the kiddie pools out in the yard for the waterfowl with the bucket on the front, LOL. I hate dragging garden hoses everywhere!
How do you gather and store it... do you have some kind of rake and baler?

The longer you delay setting the eggs, the worse the viability for hatch. And with shipped eggs, you are starting at a low potential hatch rate already. Since you only have a single incubator, I would take out the trays and get the lockdown eggs set and then add the new eggs. I think the increased humidity has the least chance of affecting the new eggs during their first week, so it seems like your best option.

That being said, I am NOT the incubation expert on this thread, so anyone else who wants to chime in, go for it. If this is bad advice, I'd like to know it as it is what I'd do if I were in this position.
I agree with you.

The ideal thing to do would be to get a second incubator, but I understand that may not be an option. Honestly I wouldn't have high hopes on the second batch of eggs, since you will have to have the humidity high too early.

I don't remember who asked about the email notifications, but I do believe you can go to every thread you are "subscribed" and turn off the push notifications at the top of the page. I may or may not have over 7,000 emails!

That swirly egg holder is pretty cool. But isn't that to sit on your counter? Eggs last longer if refrigerated.

don't know whats up with this??? but I thought it was cute. I think someone farted...

good cause I love posting them, I figured it was a new layer... lol
I got a problem with one of my hens, I have posted in the ER thread, but I want to pick the brains here too...
under 1 yr old EE hen was fine last night and this is what I found this morning, I have washed it with warm water and put tiramission ( dont know how to spell it ) in her water after giving her a dose.
What do you think it is and can I do anything else for her?

I noticed she wasn't outside with the others went to check on her and found this.

Saliene eye drops? For some reason My computer wont let me scroll using the bar today, so I can't scroll through my pictures. But I have a girl (the one in my avatar) who had an eye sealed up and the drops for 2 days did the trick for her. But hers was more crusty

It looks like what my silkie had. You need Tylan 50 injectable from the feed store. Buy a syringe, fill it it about .50 cc/ml, and give orally for 5 days. I also used drops that my dog had from the vet .It had the same ingredients as neosprin WITHOUT PAIN RELIEF (very important) that I have heard works too. It is respiratory, and a lot of birds have had it this year, if its the same thing mine had. I would definitely separate her for the 5 days if you can.

I have her in the basement so she wont get too warm and have a bigger problem when she goes back outside. ok the meds I have is for respiratory problems in chickens. would it be ok to keep using it?

Honestly, I like Kabs advice better than mine lol. I think she is right. My girls eye did this in summer and it was crusty, sealed shut because her eyes were watering. Yours does look more gunky. I just thought it might be something easy to try, a lot of people have it around the house. Contact solution should work too

What kind of meds do you have? Boil a teaspoon of salt in a cup of water and let it cool, homemade saline solution. I tried duramycin 10 and it didn't help, only the tylan helped, but you can try what you have and see if she improves. The neosporin might be the best bet. She may just have something in her eye, but it looks pretty goopy, so my gut says respiratory.
