Oh no min min! I hope they hatch okay. You may have some shrink wrapped chicks. I have helped shrink wrapped by stsrting at the small end of the egg ang helping them zip. Wait though. They may be fine if you can get the humidity up. My broodies let their pipped kids slip out from under them sometimes and they still hatch okay.

Raisenemright , went in last night and they said afternoon today. I talked to hubby and we may wait until our brisea gets here to get chicks. He hates heat lamps. Im not a huge fan either.

The humidity never dropped just th temp. So don't think they r shrink wrapped but not sure. Crossing my fingers!!!

So much for minimizing the straight comb breeds I have. Just ordered barred rock eggs from Fred's Hens! They are just too nice of birds to pass on.

Aww! Is it getting around yet? I hope it doesn't have the leg issues my last hatch had. You've seen them though, they are white and poofy and running all over the place. So it isn't a permanent situation Hopefully they just get up and run around for you.

I had a heck of a time getting the hatcher stable. The temp was up and down, the humidity was up and down...they still are hatching. At one point, I came in and the temp was 104. I was sure I had cooked them. I think my messing around may have delayed the hatching a day or so, but all is going gangbusters now. Just keep an eye on things and hopefully things will go well!

When (not if) we have our second poultryfest. All are welcome and all ideas are welcome. It is looking like the hope is we can find some 'chicken-neutral' place that doesn't jeopardize anyone's flock.

Any suggestions on locations and activities are needed and no idea is unwelcome!

What about a 4-h park? Most probably wouldn't mind if we have a processing session. If anyone is wanting to buy chickens from someone, that could pre-arranged. And everyone could take showers when they got home to be safe . I an sure it probably costs to rent it though

Not only is it up and moving around but is playing soccer with all it's hatch mates that are yet to get out! Has gotta be a girl too never heard such a big voice from a tiny little thing! Another is zipping now so gonna be at least two! Dark skin looks like 5 toes and Lilmizcareall may get her splash. Dunno for sure though still real wet n sticky looking.

I'll tell ya, after watching my broodies, those little peeps are not as delicate as we think they are. My broodies always had an egg or two hanging out under tail feathers or a wing. I'm pretty sure it isn't 100 degrees under there. But they almost always have full hatches. My biggest concern with the babies is if they have pipped and get out of the humidity and shrink wrap. I don't think temperature is as iffy as humidity. I found a silkie egg room temp, so very cool, under snow during the last hatch, the little guy still hatched. They didn't have their land legs yet though, so the humidity may have been an issue since my house is so dry even under a broody.
