INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Curtis that was me. I got ducklings. They have totally different body types and stances. Could one be a runner or a swedish? They didnt have runner ducks on the list but he sure acts like one.

CAYUUUUUUTE!!!!!
With those black beaks and feet I'd almost guess they were Cayugas, or black runners.
Mine look kind of like that.... I'm no duck expert though.
You can grab yourself some brewers yeast at a GNC, Vitamin Shoppe or a health food store. I haven't seen anyone on BYC say that poly sol will provide the necessary niacin...
Be prepared for a mess in the next tell weeks!
I have learn SO MUCH on here. There are a couple people on the duck section that will answer any questions really quickly.

Didn't know about the medicated feed...uh oh!!! Had t run n take it away!!! What happens if they eat it??? And why brewers yeast? What's with niacin??? Oh dear!

could someone PM me (because I may not see it posted here sometimes I miss a day or too and find it impossible to catch up) if they know of a local source for a electric for a whiz bang. I have been toying with the idea of building one, but Rural king in Martinsville told me they don't carry electric motors (was there today and 3 people who work there all stared at me when I asked in a way I thought I had grown a coupe of extra heads) they told me that they carried sprayer motors, I tod them that wouldn't work, also they tried selling me a roto tiller motor I told them that wouldn't work either.

I caved. I plan on getting my pullets friday, but I couldn't resist these two little ones. They were the smallest in the brooder, and getting ran over, soooo I brought them home. Just two of them, I think they are khaki campbell, but I really don't know. They were straight run all breeds. I guess it will be a surprise. :) We are giving them flock raiser and poly vi sol for niacin, is there anything else they need? I am completely dumb when it comes to ducks. They have a little stuffed doggy in the brooder and they love it. One little guys will not shut up. Omgoodness, its a loud one.

Did you make it home already? I want pics of the silkies woman!!! ;)  So we are both duck moms too now huh!

Kab, yes I'm home got here about 1:30 unloaded all the bitties, loaded up th grand babies and off to th hosp t visit my DD. She's needing prayers for good test results and fast recovery. Testing polyps that tore loose for Colin CA. She was bleeding horribly from the bowel. She's weak from blood loss but surgery went well.
When I got back t the house three of th babies were racing around picking on each other just like siblings do... The other two never made it all the way out of their shells. They were zipped and ones head was stuck t the screen in the bator they were both dead. And none of the other eggs even pipped. We ended up with only three babies out of yours AND Kim's. None of Kim's chicks thrived. Took pics of all the chicks can you tell which are the Silkie babies?

Aww I hope your daughter makes a speedy recovery. You have had a busy couple of days! Im sorry you only got 3 babies. So if I am guessing correctly you have a partridge and black or blue, and I'm not sure about the third, I couldn't see it.

Okay, so why is it when I google khaki campbell ducks, the legs are all yellow? My ducklings have black legs. Could they be black swedish? Those are the only 2 breeds tsc carries that would look like them. They also carry pekin, rouen, and mallard. I know they aren't any of those.

Well without the feathered legs the chipmunk could def be EE, buuuut, with the feathered legs I would call mix or partridge cochin. They both appear to be bearded, so it's a mystery LOL. I'm very happy for you that you got some cute little ones to take away some of the pain from this week.

pic's to follow. I love EE's but am really wanting Ameraucana's so I have to put them back on my list. Still haven't said anything to DH, he was so proud of himself thinking he did it right and without my help.

There are no ameraucanas. It looks like a few Easter egger in there, but if they have feathered legs scratch that. While EEs are mutts, they have a common look and feathered legs is my part of that look. If thy end up feathering out like an EE with feature legs you could simply call them EE mixes. While there are many feathered leg breeds, they are likely mixed with Cochin. That seems to be a common cross. If you get individual pics we/I can tell you what they are. As far as sexing, they re too young. Only certain breeds can e wing sexed. Just because it seems to be about the most common vaccine, it was probably for mareks. Anyways congrats on your new chicks. They are adorable regardless, an the though that counts
