INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Duck info overload! Having a hard time choosing just one duck breed!!! I think Pekins are the only ones crossed off the list so far!
Not to make your pick harder but pekins were my favorite out of my ducks, but they were also all females and the mallards were males (excluding the call ducks from this). Just get one of each

I had some spare time today so I thought I would try and sex my remaining 10 BBS chicks. I tried sexing them based on how fast their wings and tails were feathering out. They are only 8 days old. I would actually be pretty happy if I was right, because I am thinking I have 6 pullets, 2 cockerels, and 2 undecided (leaning towards one being a pullet and one a cockerel). I put little rubber bands on to mark them so that I can keep track of them and see if I am right. Boys got blue, girls got green, and undecideds got yellow.
Keeping track of their growth:

blue

I was too lazy to retype this- thank you copy and paste lol

Hey CCCCCCCCHICKENS, since you have experience with the little colored eggers ;), do you think this little one is a pullet? She is the little floofy white bantam I got a couple of weeks ago. Also what is your guess on color?

I was looking at my chicks today and noticed this little guy. He was from the cuckoo eggs I ordered but he hatched blue (hoping it was sent on accident and not actually from the cuckoo pen). I noticed something looked a little funny about him. I pick him up and notice his whole beak is crooked! It's not scissor beak (atleast not yet). I've never seen anything like this. He is cute with the little sprout on the top of his head. Regardless he will not be used for breeding (I don't know its sex, just referring to it as a "he"). Not sure if I should cull now or wait it out and rehome him for a pet?

Color of the chicken? White lol. I can't guess egg color, there is no way to predict that unless you know if you know whether the dad carried the blue egg gene and what the mom layed. Normally can't tell how they will feather out either, but an all white chick almost always stays all white. I would guess pullet. Just a side note- this is the first time I have ever tried to sex my chicks this young. Please don't be mad if I am wrong lol.

Her handle on here is chickengirl1304.    I just love Brahmas, they are so big and beautiful.  Can't wait to have some more join the two dark brahma hens I currently have.
Just saw the auction. Yeah her birds are nice! I'd be happy to trade eggs, chicks, or Roos at some point to expand bloodline.

I have a grown pullet that I got for free and her beak was curved like that too! I wondered if anybody else had seen something like that before. I would sell it as a pet. I didn't have my crooked beak girl as a chick, but she has gotten along fine with it since I have had her

Wow both are just too cute! My DD is really into cake decorating, bet she will try that out!
So excited that my little chicks are growing up.

Yep sure is! Looks like it may be silver duckwing, I have to get pics of mine!
They are just the sweetest birds you will ever have, love them.
I am so happy and excited to have found this thread!

I am in northwestern Indiana and have cats, fish, honeybees and silkie chickens.

I'd love to share some photos of my silkies...I got 7, week-old chicks last June and have been raising them ever since. Would love to add more to the flock when I get more land (currently living in a city).

Top Knot my white rooster:

Here's a shot of some of them in the chicken run:
