PeacefulWalls- do you hard boil your quail eggs? Thats an idea! I hadn't even thought to try that with my bantam eggs! We've been missing out! I usually scramble them for our ferret. They're so small it just never occured to me to use them for us!

That's awesome you've got a chicken cat too! I'd love to see a pic of the cat on the alpaca, how cute!
Good luck with your picks!

This is a pic I had posted last fall when my daughter hard boiled dozens of quail eggs & then made a plate of deviled eggs with them.

We didn't have a camera with us the time Honey was on Hershey's back, but here she is cuddled up to him one morning.

That IS a bummer.

I've been trying to figure out what I want to plant at the front of this property which is a state highway that they have now added sidewalks to :tongue   Definitely not the same as it used to be in the old days...and I'd like to feel a little more "isolated".  It just seems like by the time it grows I'll be dead and gone!

Have been considering some tall grasses.  That way it doesn't put out any stumps to rid the place of in the future if someone doesn't want them there.  But I can leave them up all winter and they'll recover relatively quickly after they're cut down in the spring.

Anyone have any experience with the tall grasses as a privacy fence?

The tall grasses work pretty well and grow quickly.  I have heard bamboo is also a good privacy screen.  My biggest issue is that it is an area the horses graze and I don't want them eating my privacy screen!  They also tend to run over, trample small trees/bushes so I was hoping this year they would finally be established enough that I wouldn't have to worry.  Boooooooooo.

I don't know where you are located, but I have a ton of grass you can have. I researched it last year and it says to transplant/split it in the spring. So all ya gotta do is show up, and of course dig it up! I am planning on putting up a CL or Free Cycle add for it all, so if anyone else is interested let me know!
I don't know what the people, that lived here before, were thinking, but this much grass is overkill. It does create privacy and buffer, but they put it INSIDE our privacy fence...

I think the bamboo is a great idea, if anyone knows better than me, it can be extremely invasive. They recommend planting it inside pots, to keep it from rooting out. The Indianapolis zoo had to remove all their bamboo, because it had overtook the entire Plains/Asian exhibit. Now it's all potted.

Oh they are too cute together! Love it! :) Your daughters deviled quail eggs look tasty! Tiny as all get out, but tasty! Lol! I can see how you'd be sick of peeling eggs!:p
