INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Just a green-cheek. He's pretty much all green except his head and tail. :)

Koda's quiet, too, except sometimes he goes on a screeching tear and we've got to talk him down before he goes back to playing quietly. He has a bell hanging in the middle of his cage that he climbs up and rings whenever he wants attention. We also got him a 'happy hut' a while ago that he looooves and sleeps in every night. Sometimes I look in there and see him laying on his back in it! He loves his sunflower seeds, too, but hates pumpkin seeds! That's usually the only thing left in his dish at the end of the day.

I'm a bird person, too. :D But I got into chickens and they're my main interest now. Next possibly indoor, probably indoor/outdoor at best birds for me are gonna be Serama bantams, I think. They're so cute and small. :love That's just one breed on my ever-growing must-have list, though.

I love love love happy huts. Also instead of newspaper, those pine pellets they use for cat litter work amazingly. They're anti microbial and break up when wet and are super easy to clean. And they smell nice. I love love love Conures. My first was a Nanday named Nanders. Boy I miss him.

I have a cage if someone wants it it needs cleaned out but it's a great cage for a small bird like a green cheek. It has a perch/play pen on top and it's not wire. Anyway if someone wants it I can part with it for cheap since I bought it off a guy on Craigslist and never used it. Lol I have a 55 gallon tank with a 300 dollar cannister filter and everything but the lights too. Sigh.

Happy birthday, cccccccchickens! And congrats on the conure. Hope it came with ear plugs ;). Lol watch the number of sunflower seeds. Not the healthiest for them. I'd highly recommend trying to get it on a pelleted diet and supplement with mixed seeds and fresh foods. Also watch petco as it seems they are constantly clearancing out bird toys.

Yeah mash isn't the best. Guess chickens and Conures can be pretty similar in some ways lol.

We filled the pond in because the fish died over the winter, and I don't have time to take care of it anymore anyway. Plus our dogs thought it was a swimming pool. Yuck! Picture day!! Who am I kidding, it's always picture day around here. Broody Suki. I forgot that I took her out to eat last night and left her off the eggs a little longer than I should have. I hope they are okay. I do dumb things sometimes. The 5 week old LF cochins. We picked 2 pair again. Just like last year with Lavender and Blueberry. Pullet ; Ebony Cockerel ; onyx Pullet; pepper Cockerel; jinx The bantams Bandit; barred cochin, who is very much a girl. The key to getting girls is giving them boy names in the beginning I think. Sunny; gold laced cochin Poe; oegb Peanut; oegb Kiwi; EE bantam Kiwis beard LOL And Einstein..... See all girls Ha!
Love the pics..as usual! Those Cochins though! Wow! Just beautiful! Adorable little EE bantam too!

Well it's been a busy weekend. we finally got the permanent doors on the coop after a year of having a hideous old brown door on it. DH got the in-barn coop built sans door. We are getting that this week. My roosters are ticking me off. They are tearing my girls up awful still. I don't know what to do. They both are very sweet to people and each other and the hens in general, but the over mating is getting old. Maybe I should put them in a coop together for awhile and give the girls a break or something. The next couple of weeks are going to be crazy. We have alpaca shearing coming up and I feel like I'm not getting anything done that I need to. Anyway, hope everyone had a nice weekend. Here's some pics of ours.

If anyone ever wanted to know what alpaca fleece looks like before shearing, here you go. They aren't fat. Is all fluff!
Today is our shearing day. Their coats are quite thick this year. I'm anxious to get our fiber processed into yarn, although I'm not holding my breath to wait for it to happen. I still have last year's fleece waiting to be processed too! Do you process your own fiber or do you send it off somewhere?

Anyone who can process yarn I cam paint it very well for you to sell. I'm good at it.

Kari was an old girl, but she was a dependable girl. When she was young, she was Toyota's state of the art luxary sedan, her systems and features were years ahead of her time. She stood the test of time, too, and even at the age of 19, after over 200,000 miles of service, she could keep pace with anything on the road. She cornered like she was on rails. She was comfortable and efficient, and her AC was ice cold. We will miss you, Kari. Rest in Peace, old friend.
Is everyone okay?

Is everyone okay?

Yep! I was driving, alone in the car. The lady who crossed in front of me was pregnant, so the took her to the hospital as a precaution, but she seemed fine, and her passenger was fine. They're lucky I was paying attention. I was able to swerve enough to hit the back of her minivan instead of the front.

But I'm very sad for my car. I loved that car.

Do you sell the fiber and if so how much would you ask for it? I've been thinking of learning how to spin and need some natural fiber to do so. I know it would need washed and carded first as well, but I'd be willing to do that. Just let me know, thanks!!

So sorry for your car but I'm glad everyone was ok. I just lost another high school class mate in a car wreck. Such a sad thing to happen.
